Chloé and Martin first matched on a dating app in March 2016. During their first conversation, they realized the middle school where Chloé taught 6th grade science and social studies was next door to the school where Martin taught as a kindergarten teaching assistant in Greensboro, NC. They first met in person at a staff meeting. Martin asked Chloé out to dinner that same night. Over the years, they took the time to figure out their own life goals and dreams for the future, never straying very far away from each other. They moved in together in 2022, while Martin finished his studies in Applied Engineering Technology at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and Chloé studied at Wake Forest University School of Divinity. They graduated in May 2023, with their graduation ceremonies on the same Saturday. Late that night, exhausted from celebrating their accomplishments with their families, they promised each other that they were in it for the long haul. Two days later, on a Monday afternoon, Martin proposed to Chloé in their tiny kitchen; the most perfect, simple, and romantic proposal, true to their personalities and their relationship. The following the summer they moved to Chapel Hill, NC where Chloé began her studies as a PhD student at UNC-Chapel Hill. They live with their rescue beagle Bacon, who is more like their fur child than a pet. Martin and Chloé love to travel, and have visited Washington, D.C., New York City, Atlanta GA, Spartanburg SC, Rock Hill SC, Charlottesville VA, St. Augustine FL, Seattle WA, Myrtle Beach SC, Lake Gaston NC, Charlotte NC, and other cities throughout North Carolina, usually to visit family or friends. They plan to travel abroad together as they continue to make memories together. Chloé and Martin love spending time together at home cooking, listening to records, and watching Love Island (the UK version, of course). Martin can usually be found building something with his 3D printers, while Chloé tries out new recipes in the kitchen. They love collecting books and records. They also enjoy hiking and going to restaurants and bars with friends. March 2025, the month of their wedding, marks 9 years from the month they first met. Martin and Chloé would like to give a special thank you to our friends and family who have supported our relationship over the years. Our partnership is a reflection of the love we have experienced from each of you, and we hope to return that love to each of you and our communities.
