Chelsea arrived in Missouri two weeks before the COVID-19 epidemic became a worldwide health crisis. Chelsea decided to try Bumble (the dating app) to meet people and stumbled across Marc's Bumble page. Marc was the first person Chelsea swiped right for and was the only person Chelsea spoke to on the site. Marc and Chelsea began talking back and forth, however, Chelsea would forget she had the app and not respond for multiple days. Marc and Chelsea then exchanged numbers and spoke everyday. On April 10, 2020 after Chelsea ran a background check on Marc, went to his home for a first date. The date went well and both decided to schedule a second date for the following weekend. Two days after the first date, Marc called Chelsea to inform her he was reactivated by the Navy and being deployed in three days. Marc and Chelsea were able to see each other two more times before Marc deployed to San Diego, California. Marc had let Chelsea know he did not expect her to wait for him to return as he was not sure when he would return to Missouri. Chelsea knew from the first date Marc was special and agreed to wait for him to return from his deployment. Marc was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California which happened to be an hour from where Chelsea parent's reside. Chelsea flew to California in May 2020 to see Marc and introduce him to her parents. Marc was able to be approved to go off base for about 40 hours. The first meal Marc had with Chelsea and her parents was dinner from El Pollo Loco. Marc ordered chicken, mashed potatoes and coleslaw in true Missouri fashion. When the meal arrived it came with tortillas and salsa. Marc did not realize he ordered Mid-West food from a Mexican restaurant. Marc, Chelsea and her parents all laughed together and this is a memory we do not let Marc forget. Marc returned to Missouri in July of 2020. Chelsea was in the process of looking for an apartment as she decided to stay in Missouri permanently as she had started a job and new she wanted to continue seeing Marc. Marc and Chelsea got their first apartment together in October of 2020 which was an interesting time trying to figure out how to incorporate Southern California decor with Marc's hunting pictures, deer heads and Bass Pro decor. Through Chelsea's employment she often had to go to St. Louis for work and would stay with Marc's parents. Chelsea watched how much love his parents had for each other and for Marc and grew to see Marc's parents as her second family. Chelsea quickly realized Bumble had paired her with the "one". During the course of the relationship, Marc graduated with two master's degrees and supported Chelsea in pursuing a future in social work. Chelsea was diagnosed with breast cancer a little over a year after Marc and Chelsea started dating. Marc stayed by Chelsea's side supporting her through treatment options and the recovery process. Marc even stayed calm and supported Chelsea after she brought home an eight week old puppy, three weeks after her double mastectomy. Marc a man of few words, also knew he would marry Chelsea. Marc is a planner and knew he wanted to have his PA-C and own a home before purposing. In May 2023, Marc started his career as a Physician Assistant in the Emergency Department at the local level I trauma hospital. In July 2023, Marc and Chelsea bought their first home together. In December 2023, Marc secretly went and bought the engagement ring Chelsea loved. He kept it in a safe in the house until July 19, 2024 when he proposed to Chelsea in her hometown with her parents, brother and sister-in-law present. Marc and Chelsea's love, commitment, patience and support for one another's ambitions has allowed them to stay steadfast in their relationship through deployments, cancer, higher educations and crazy work hours. Marc and Chelsea are excited for the next chapter in their relationship with becoming Mr. and Mrs. Havlicek.
