It all began with an awkward high-five! If it wasn’t weird, then it wouldn’t have been us. Brad was working at the Rudder and I was with some friends on a Friday, girls night out. We hadn’t seen each other since that winter at a Christmas party. We briefly chatted and caught up as much as we could in that moment. Aside from the other times, there was this unforgettable giddy and genuine feeling that finally felt right. BUT, let’s backtrack…as I was coming up the steps toward the lounge, I was thrown off, and pleasantly surprised by this overjoyed, bright smile from across the room. As if nobody else mattered, I made my way toward him on a complete mission. BOOM, a high-five, that’s how I greeted the guy I was so happy to see again (smooth, I know haha.) Initially, we met a year prior to that reunion and although there was a shared spark, unfortunately that timing just wasn’t right for us. So although we had already known each other since the summer before from around town and through mutual friends, that was the night that sealed the deal. Once he was off work, we sat on his tailgate at a friends house and talked for hours about the highs and lows of past and present, our families, our common interests, our beliefs (both political and religious, luckily we saw eye to eye lol), our careers and interests, and most importantly Capri. He showed an interest in my motherhood like nobody ever has. He asked questions, not to impress me but because he was genuinely interested. That was the night we knew that it wouldn’t be the last. The next morning he text me first thing, it didn’t take long till we were back together. You could say inseparable after that.

Brad had arranged a photoshoot with my cousin, Andrea for a few pregnancy announcement pictures. To my surprise, he had much more up his sleeve than just that. Brad proposed in front of our Christmas tree with Capri by our side and Cohen steadily growing in his temporary home. As if our pregnancy announcement wasn’t enough, this was the final step in preparation for forever. The easiest yes of my life was saying YES to him and if I hesitated Capri would have for me.
