Katie and Adam’s journey began at James Madison University, where they both thrived as passionate and determined student-athletes. Adam’s freshman year in 2017 was unforgettable—he helped JMU football secure a national championship. Just a year later, in 2018, Katie made history of her own, leading JMU lacrosse to a Division I national title during her freshman season. Although their paths didn’t cross until September of 2019, it was worth the wait. From their first dates in E-Hall filled with laughter to supporting each other through life’s challenges, their bond has always been genuine and full of life. On December 9th, 2019, Adam officially asked Katie to be his girlfriend, marking the start of their incredible journey together. Their relationship soon faced its first big challenge. When COVID-19 hit in the spring of 2020—Adam’s final semester before graduation and in the middle of Katie’s lacrosse season—they transitioned to a long-distance relationship. As Katie took an extra year of NCAA eligibility, Adam offered unwavering support. Despite the distance and his demanding work schedule in Washington, DC, Adam made countless trips to see Katie, showing up to her games to cheer her on from the stands. His steadfast encouragement meant the world to Katie and strengthened their bond, even during those challenging years. For two years, they navigated the ups and downs of distance, growing stronger as a couple despite the miles between them. In the spring of 2022, Katie graduated after five years at JMU and started working full-time. That September, the two officially moved in together in Southwest DC, taking the next big step in their relationship. In October 2023, Katie and Adam decided not to renew their lease, and instead moved in with Katie’s family in Fairfax to save money for a few months. Fast forward through 2024, and their love story hit new milestones. Their teamwork and shared vision paired with the love and support from their families paid off when they closed on their first home in April 2024—a huge milestone and a testament to their hard work and dedication. While balancing being first time homebuyers, Adam beginning his MBA program, and the two of them navigating life, the love and support they have for each other soared. That same year, their love story reached new heights with a romantic rooftop proposal at The Vue in DC on November 30th. The evening was a perfect reflection of their journey—filled with love, fellowship, and the excitement of building their forever future together surrounded by close friends and family. Katie and Adam are not just a couple; they are a team in every sense of the word. Their championship mentality—a commitment to teamwork, resilience, and celebrating each other’s wins—guides their life together. They share a deep passion for bringing people together, creating meaningful connections, and inspiring those around them.
