Jose and I met on Bumble shortly after I moved from Vancouver to California. For our first date Jose took me on a walk. He bragged and told me "it was a beautiful walk by the water". Come to find out it was a beach by the water treatment center in Pinole. However, I paid no mind to where we were, and enjoyed his energy and company. Fast forward a year later, I took Jose to Vancouver. He confessed to me that he understood why I was unimpressed by the "beautiful beach in Pinole". But someone once told me that it doesn't matter where your first date was, or where you get married. You could be in a dingy hotel with a broken shower, or your first date at a water treatment center, and still be married for years to come.
