Best Man
Donovan and I met through the Vanderbilt concert choir, a group to which he briefly belonged, and I never did. But as unlikely as our friendship was, I can't imagine the world where he didn't introduce me to Formula 1, my favorite podcasts, tabletop RPGs, and more. It's an honor to be a part of Donovan and Catherine's wedding. There's no couple with whom I'd rather watch the extended Lord of the Rings trilogy, play 48 races of Mario Kart, or listen to the Dutch national anthem on repeat.
Maid of Honor
I met Catherine in 5th grade at Linden Waldorf School, and she was one of the first people to invite me over for a sleepover. Her mom made the most amazing bolognese, and we stayed up late talking for hours, cementing a friendship that has lasted ever since. Over the years, we’ve shared so many adventures, from trips to San Diego and Florida to Catherine introducing me to Studio Ghibli films. And I’ll never forget the times we would hide away in our childhood homes trying to melt entire candles with matches—classic us! Catherine is one of the most thoughtful, kind, and confident people I know, and I’m so excited to stand by her side as she and Donovan start this next chapter together. Expect lots of laughter, happy tears, and maybe a touch of our signature mischief at the wedding!
Sister of Groom/Groomswoman
Like all great little sisters, I loves to claim credit—earned or not. So, my version of Donovan and Catherine's story starts with a Nashville-to-Oklahoma phone call coaching Donovan through the early days of his budding romance. My brother's fervent, unwavering encouragement has been part of the bedrock of my life, and I am so excited to return a tiny portion of that support on his wedding day. I am counting down the moments until I officially forever gain an amazing friend, game partner, book recommender, and sister in Catherine.
Sister of Bride/Bridesmaid
I have known Catherine her whole life! It was Catherine's fault I took up piano, and my fault Catherine took up horseback riding. We have had a lifetime of dragging each other on adventures, whether on imaginary quests or a 2-week road trip through Canada. And now, I'm excited to see where Donovan and Catherine end up!
Groomsperson
I have had the joy of knowing Donovan since 2013. Over the years, our friendship blossomed into the beautiful thing it is now. Watching him fall in love with Catherine has been such a joy. Donovan stood next to me as I married the love of my life, and now I am honored to stand with him as he marries his.
Bridesmaid
I met Catherine during freshman orientation at Maryville College. We bonded over Studio Ghibli and books and became best friends in no time at all. I still remember when she came to Japan to visit me when I lived there; she lost her glasses on the Toy Story ride at Disney Sea, having to end her last few days of vacation not being able to see well AT ALL (the employees thankfully found her glasses and shipped them all the way back to the U.S.). Catherine is one of the kindest and most gracious people I have ever known, and I am so happy to be a part of her special day with Donovan.
Groomsman
My friendship with Donovan began with a sweet heist: liberating leftover ice cream from our freshman-year welcome dinner. That late-night adventure sparked a bond that lasted throughout college, where we lived together and became inseparable. While we've always enjoyed a good debate—going at each other hammer and tongs late into the night—our connection runs much deeper, with mutual respect and a genuine care for each other's well-being. From epic online RPGs to countless Dominion matches, and now a thrilling Baldur's Gate 3 campaign, their shared love of games has kept them connected over the years. Alan is honored to stand beside Donovan as he begins this exciting new chapter.
Bridesmaid
Our constant talking and laughing in freshman physics got us in so much trouble that we were eventually separated. Still, even that couldn’t stop us from becoming inseparable through study hall antics, formals, and countless sleepovers, leading to a lifelong friendship. One of my favorite memories is blasting the radio and dancing while I straightened Catherine’s hair for senior prom. It’s been such a joy to watch her grow from a quiet, reserved girl into the thriving, loving, and energetic woman she is today. Now, as we grow older…and slightly more arthritic...I can’t wait to celebrate Catherine and Donovan’s wedding and hit the dance floor with them, proving that even creaky knees can’t hold us back from dancing the night away and celebrating their beautiful love!
