Cocktail Attire

We're so excited to get married and celebrate with all of our friends and family! Drinks, dinner, and plenty of dancing to follow. Note: the ceremony will take place on the front lawn of the Old Art Building, so ladies may want to wear block heels or flats.

Travel

For those traveling from afar, we recommend flying into the Traverse City Airport (TVC) and renting a car to make the drive to Leland (~45 minutes). The entirety of the Leelanau Peninsula and surrounding area is beautiful, with many activities and sightseeing opportunities, and having a car will be helpful. If you will not be renting a car, we can coordinate travel from the airport as we get closer to the weekend. We recommend booking lodging as soon as possible, as rentals in the area usually book up fast during the peak season months. We also have some recommendations for activities and sightseeing listed further below, but will continue to add to it as we get closer to next September!

Ty and Casey, their close friends, and immediate families will be staying at the Lodge throughout the weekend. It will be the central hub for weekend activities! Since the lodge is fully booked, please see the other lodging options for where to stay.

Please reach out to Casey if you are interested in renting any of the Airbnbs/VRBOs! Things To Do

We hope you love Northern Michigan as much as we do, and that you get the chance to explore all that the area has to offer! We have organized the following recommendations in order of proximity to Leland, from closest to farthest.

The Cove & Fishtown

111 West River Street, Leland, MI 49654

Our favorite restaurant in Leland, and a must visit whenever we come to town. We recommend that you at least get the Whitefish Pâté, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu! After your meal, stroll through Fishtown and the various shops in the old fishing shanties.

Van's Beach

205 Cedar Street, Leland, MI 49654

If weather permits, we highly recommend taking a stroll on the beach and soaking up some of the last summer sun of the season! Hunt for Leland Blue rocks as a souvenir to bring home as well.

Clay Cliffs Natural Area

4755 North Manitou Trail, Leland, MI 49654

An easy loop hike near Leland that leads you through the woods and dunes out to a large bluff overlooking Lake Michigan.

Aurora Cellars

7788 East Horn Road, Lake Leelanau, MI 49653

One of our favorite wineries on the peninsula! Aside from their great wines, ask for a blend of the Heirloom and Cherry ciders; it's a favorite of ours, as well as their Pinot Noir.

Suttons Bay

Suttons Bay, MI 49682

If you are looking for more shopping or dining, we recommend visiting the Village of Suttons Bay! Just 15-20 minutes from Leland, this quaint town has lots of adorable shops and eateries, and is also located right on the Grand Traverse Bay, with a nice beach walkable from downtown if you want to take a dip.

MAWBY Sparkling Wines

4519 Elm Valley Road, Suttons Bay, MI 49682

If you like bubbly, this is a must visit.

Suttons Bay Ciders

10530 East Hilltop Road, Suttons Bay, MI 49682

A favorite stop of ours for great cider and amazing views of the Grand Traverse Bay.

Grand Traverse Lighthouse

15500 Lighthouse Point Road, Northport, MI 49670

One of the oldest lighthouses on the Great Lakes! We highly recommend stopping in Northport on the way there or back as well to stroll through town and grab a bite.

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore

9922 West Front Street, Empire, MI 49630

If you have a car and a few hours to spare, we highly recommend making the trip to Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes! There are plenty of trails in the park, but if you are just driving through, Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive is a must, and go to the Stop #9 overlook. This is the famous 500 foot sand dune overlooking Lake Michigan.

FAQs

Question

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony will be outdoors on the lawn of the Old Art Building, and dinner will be under a tent on the lawn, while the rest of the reception and dancing will be indoors at the Old Art Building. The weather in Northern Michigan can be a bit unpredictable this time of year, so we suggest bringing a light jacket or shawl for the outdoor portion of the day, just in case!

Question

What time should I arrive for the ceremony?

Answer

We ask that everyone arrives to the venue by 4:00-4:15pm in order to get seated and comfortable for the 4:30pm ceremony start.

Question

How do I get to and from the venue?

Answer

For guests staying at the Leland Lodge or the various other options right in downtown Leland, the OAB is within walking distance (5-10 minutes max). There is also parking nearby the OAB for those who wish to drive to the event.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

The dress code is cocktail attire; we recommend dress pants and jackets for men, midi/maxi dresses, jumpsuits, or dressy separates for women. Since the ceremony and dinner will be on the main lawn of the Old Art Building, women may want to wear block heels or short/flat heels due to the soft grass.

Question

What if I have a food allergy or dietary restrictions?

Answer

We will work with our caterers to ensure everyone's dietary restrictions are met, please be as detailed as possible in the RSVP when asked about dietary restrictions!

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

While we love your little ones, we have chosen to make our wedding an adults-only occasion, and ask that you leave your children at home. We hope you can still join us for the special day!

Question

Don't see your question answered here?

Answer

Please reach out to Ty or Casey for any information you haven't been able to find on the website!
