Some would say our love story started on the school bus during our elementary year, and some would say it started when we reconnected after college years since we were separated. I would say it started even before that, a fate formed within the friendship our families formed even before we met. The idea of true love, or soulmates, is a cliche one at best, but it fits so perfectly in this story that the word cliche melts into something that feels more akin to destiny. We grew up in the same neighborhood, went to the same school, and even after we parted after high school fate struck once more after college when we were reunited once again. He was my first bully that turned into my closest friend and confidant. As if everything already didn’t align to form this love story, my belief that he is the one for me solidified the day we chose our wedding venue. On our way back I happened across a cardinal, a stark red against the scenery beyond the car. I knew then it was my grandfather visiting me, to give me assurance when I felt lost and overwhelmed. The last chord of fate was struck when I gained the approval of the most important person in my world that day. Since then my belief in fate, our fate, was sealed in my heart. All of these happenings, everything that came together since we were kids, has accumulated to this one day as if to tie it all off with a finishing bow and day of celebration.
