Back in 2017, straight out of high school, I was working at Panda Express when Raquan walked in for a job interview. He was quietly scoping out the place — and not so quietly sneaking glances at me. (I noticed, sir.) A week later, he showed up for his first day. I was the one who let him in, totally unaware I was opening the door for the future love of my life — or at least the guy who could sleep through a tornado and still forget half the groceries, even with a detailed list in hand. At first, we barely talked. He started in the kitchen but magically ended up in the front not long after. He said the onions were too much for him — but I think he just wanted a better view of me (smart move). Then one night during a closing shift, he broke the ice by asking who I went to prom with — a not-so-smooth but clever attempt to find out if I was single. I asked for his Snapchat, and boom — we’ve been chatting ever since. Our first date was at the movies, and we had such a good time we ended up watching two movies back-to-back. (Still not sure what either was about — we were too busy laughing and sneaking snacks.) We made it official in September 2017, and we’ve been stuck like glue ever since. And now here we are — getting ready to say “I do” and start forever. I guess the moral of the story is: always be nice to the new guy at work… you might just end up marrying him. – The (Soon-to-be) Mrs. Bowen
