Our "how we met" spans 7 years, so we'll lay it out for you, timeline style. December 2016: Matt and Mary swipe right and go on their first date. It didn't go well. Matt and Mary both leave the date thinking that maybe it's best to wait for the other one to call first. January 2017 to May 2019: Radio silence. No one calls anyone. One time, Matt sees Mary outside of a bar, and thinks "I'm pretty sure I went on a date with that girl, but I can't remember what happened." May 2019ish: Mary gets a notification on Instagram of "People you May Know" and it's Matt! Matt posts a picture of himself in a Weird Al Star Wars t-shirt. Mary finds this incredibly alluring and follows him immediately. July 3rd, 2019, 10pm: All of Matt's friends are out of town for the fourth of July. He thinks about the girl he went on that date with 3 years ago and sends a Snapchat. It's a selfie that says "Hey." July 3rd, 2019, 11pm: Mary sends a Snap back. It's also a selfie that says "Hey." Matt responds immediately, but Mary doesn't open it. July 4th, 2019, 11am: Mary opens the chat - neither remembers what it said, but it works. They go on their second "first date." It's so much better than the first one that Mary calls her mom immediately. Her mom tells her to play it cool. She does not. July 6th, 2019: Matt and Mary go on their first second date. It's really, really, very good. Matt asks Mary if she thinks there are more chairs or people in the world. Mary thinks that's the most wonderful question anyone has ever asked her. July 10th, 2019 to Now: Matt and Mary go on another date, another date, and another date. They fall in love, weather the pandemic, move in together, and get engaged. Mary watches every Marvel movie and Matt learns how to cook. They write stupid songs and eat a lot of cheese. Every day they say, "I loved you so much yesterday. I can't believe that I love you more today. It seems impossible that I'll love you even more tomorrow." But every tomorrow, they do.
