It all began in April 2023 during our freshman year of college, when Amelie introduced us. Cami and Amelie had quickly become best friends, while Jason had known Amelie for many years and was best friends with her boyfriend, Dylan. As the four of us spent more time together, Jason and Cami somehow always found themselves third-wheeling Amelie and Dylan. Before long, our friend group was inseparable. We spent nearly every day together, going on trips with friends to Seattle, exploring Rosario Beach, camping on the weekends, trying new coffee shops, and making the most of every chance we had to be together. What started as simply hanging out as a group gave us countless opportunities to get to know one another, and somewhere along the way, those shared moments turned into endless conversations, lots of laughter, and a connection neither of us saw coming. At the time, Cami was working as a lifeguard at the school pool. Without a car on campus, she made the 10-minute walk back to her dorm after her late-night shifts. Amelie decided Jason should start giving Cami rides home, and looking back, it may have been the best idea she ever had. After that very first ride home, neither of us really wanted the conversation to end. We ended up texting until around 4 a.m., even though Jason had a test to study for the next day. Those short drives quickly became the highlight of our days. A ride home after work turned into conversations that lasted far longer than the drive itself, lots of stories, and getting to know each other. Somewhere between those late-night rides and all the time we spent together, friendship grew into something much more, and we both knew we had found something special. Not long after, Jason planned our first date which included mini golf, Starbucks, and sushi. Cami still insists she won fair and square, while Jason claims he might have let her win. We'll let you decide who won... but either way, it was the beginning of many more dates and adventures together. Some of our favorite memories from freshman year came from the family dinners we shared with our friends. Almost every night, we'd gather together to cook homemade meals (pasta, tacos, lentil soup, salads, steaks, and so much more), crowd around the table together, and create friendships that became family. Looking back, those simple nights are some of the memories we cherish most. Freshman year was also filled with plenty of other adventures we shared together. From competing in soccer and softball intramurals, to off-roading, backpacking through the mountains, playing pickleball, studying nursing and quizzing each other, fishing, and camping, we spent our time making the most of every opportunity to be together. Since those freshman-year days, we've graduated college as nurses, and started building a life together in Fort Bragg, California, where we now get to call home. Living by the beach has been an incredible new adventure, and we're excited to see where life takes us next. What began with a few late-night rides home has grown into a lifetime of adventures, laughter, and love. We are so grateful for every moment that brought us here and for the incredible family and friends who have been part of our journey. We can't wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of you!
