Mariana and Caleb met at the young adults group at their church about two years ago! In October of 2024, they both went on a camping trip with some friends to Kentucky. During this trip Mariana observed Caleb a lot and wanted to get to know him more, but kept this to herself for a while. A few weeks later, Mariana had to leave the country for a while, so some church friends had a "Goodbye Party" for her. Caleb came to this party, but left without saying goodbye to Mari. Everyone had said their goodbyes before Mari went back to Costa Rica, but for some reason it bothered her that Caleb left without saying anything. On Thanksgiving Day, Mari told Caleb's sister to wish him "happy birthday" and a few minutes later, she got a direct message request from Caleb. From that day, they texted each other almost every day for 3 months, only getting to know each other more as friends. Both of them started to feel interested in the other, but were nervous that the other person might not feel the same way. When Mari finally came back to the States, Caleb tried asking her out on a date, but could not get a second with her in person. A few days later, as they were still messaging each other, Mari sent Caleb a picture of the play "Tick Tick... Boom!" that was being performed at a small theater in Delaware. This was a play that both Mari and Caleb had talked about while they were messaging. Caleb saw his opportunity and finally asked Mari on a first date. After a few dates and great conversations, Caleb asked Mari if she wanted to be his girlfriend. On Christmas Eve, Caleb got down on one knee and proposed to Mari! Now they are preparing and praising God for starting a life together!
