Katelynn and Nicholas met at West Virginia University in 2015. Nick was studying biology while also participating in numerous extracurriculars, one of which was producing and directing a little known play called Vanya, Sonya, Masha, and Spike. Katelynn, a theatre major at the time was cast to play Nina. Katelynn had a BIG crush on Nick, but never pursued anything. The two had a very professional relationship during the shows run. A few weeks after the show wrapped, Nick was running for Student Government (busy guy). The two would fatefully meet again only to have Nick call Katelynn the wrong name (Nina, her characters name from the play) and proceed to tell Katelynn about his platform and why she should vote for him. She in fact did NOT vote for him, and two would not speak again for a year. Jump cut: Nick is now co-directing a well known show called Rocky Horror Picture Show, and guess who was cast in the ensemble (I’ll give you 3 guesses.) The two would once again have a very professional run of the show. But this time Katelynn was determined to make her feelings known. The night of the wrap party Katelynn and Nick would be two of the last people at the party, talking till 2 in the morning (yes, a guitar was involved). The two would have their first date the week after and from there would be together for the next 10 years. Katelynn and Nick have traveled the world together, moved to Atlanta to pursue their dreams, and weathered multiple jobs, pandemics, ups and downs. Along the way, they’ve learned how to think like problem solvers, how to communicate (especially when it’s hard), and how to find joy in the mess. Most importantly, they’ve learned the value of patience—and the power of laughter. They’ve made films together, road-tripped through France and Italy, and even screened a short film at the Cannes Film Festival. Through it all, their personalities have continued to complement one another—always pushing, always supporting, always making each other laugh. Now, they’re excited to build a life together—creating more art, finding a home, and shaping a future filled with love and adventure. Thank you for being part of this new chapter.
