How We Met

It was the early 2021 COVID lockdown; Bryan and Christina had both spent Valentine’s Day alone, but didn’t know it would be their last one without a partner. They got lucky on the apps, a rare fate, especially in Los Angeles, which is widely known as a dating desert. Since they are both artists, Bryan invited Christina to paint with him on the beach for their first date, and first meet for coffee at one of his favorite spots in the Redondo Riviera. Who would have known that it would turn into so much more? When they realized how similar they are, a spark ignited between them, and they became partners in crime ever since. They consider each other to be puzzle pieces, different, but fitting together perfectly. Just a few short months after they met, they adopted their son, a small senior rescue chihuahua, named Riley, who is their steadfast sentinel of both physical and emotional protection; a true guard dog when it comes to attacking any bad vibes in their way. He is their little treasure, and together the three became a family. They are both in a constant sense of surprise over their telepathic bond, usually reading each other’s minds, and finishing each other’s sentences. Christina’s sense of emotional intelligence along with Bryan’s telepathic control over certain stop lights has seen them through any tough times and steered them towards blue skies. Every day they both feel lucky to have found each other and look forward to a lifetime of adventures, chilling on the couch and watching shows, going on hikes, roadtrips through the roughest of weather, finding furniture on the sidewalk, discovering new things, and enjoying the familiar— so long as they are together.

Travel

Train

Amtrak- Pacific Surfliner

The Pacific Surfliner is a scenic 2 and a half hour train ride up the coast! There are several stations throughout LA and it will take you into Santa Barbara. Notes for out of town guests- the station listed as LAX is not the airport, it is in downtown. If you aren't sure which station makes sense for you just reach out and we can discuss where you're coming from and help figure it out.

Flight

Where should I fly into?

You can either fly into LAX or into Santa Barbara. For out of town guests we suggest flying into LA a few days prior, visiting LA, and then making your way up to Santa Barbara on Sunday morning for the ceremony at 3pm. It's totally up to you.

Travel Note

Where should I stay in Santa Barbara?

As of writing this we haven't found a room block that makes sense, but there are several options within walking distance of the ceremony and reception. Take a look at Secret Garden Inn, Hotel Santa Barbara, or even the original Motel 6 on Corona Del Mar that has ocean views. There are a lot of options around, and any of the adjacent beach towns are really nice and just a short drive.

FAQs

Question

Where is Santa Barbara?

Answer

It's about 2 and a half hours north of Los Angeles! You could fly directly into Santa Barbara or into LA (LAX) and visit LA for a few days and then either drive up or take the train up the coast.

Question

What's the venue?

Answer

Santa Barbara Courthouse describes itself as an "iconic landmark" and "one of the country’s most beautiful public buildings". It's a 1920s Spanish Colonial Revival building with Moorish influences, and is quite stunning inside and out. You can read more about it here, and the various tours offered. They also list several other things to do around Santa Barbara: https://santabarbaraca.com/businesses/santa-barbara-county-courthouse/

Question

Where at the courthouse do I go?

Answer

The ceremony will be at 3pm inside in the MURAL ROOM on the 2nd floor.

Question

Where is the reception?

Answer

It is at a restaurant called El Paseo that specializes in events, 3 blocks away from the courthouse. Like the courthouse, the building is also on the National Register of Historic Places! The restaurant was first built in 1922 as part of an 1826 adobe complex. The food and drinks should be really good, too ;)

Question

I have travel questions...

Answer

Check the Travel section and that should answer them! Reach out directly with any other specific questions and we will try to help as best we can.
