It was August 7, 2024. Josh recently returned from California doing solar sales, dating was the last thing on his mind. Josh opened Hinge one night as he was putting together a futon he bought for his apartment in Salt Lake. Josh was intending on deleting all of his dating apps when he saw a new match, Bronson! Josh and Bronson initially connected over sugar cookies, talked well into the next morning, and decided they were going to go on a date that day. They met at Holy Taco in Orem, went to Rock Canyon Park in Provo afterwards to watch the sunset, and then had Brooker’s Founding Flavors in Vineyard. Yum!! The next day was Josh’s birthday. And every day since then has felt like an absolute gift with Bronson by his side
Josh and Bronson had been talking about taking a trip together for a little bit, but hadn’t pulled the trigger yet. Josh just got a new car, and a new job, so they decided they were doing to take a celebratory trip to Laguna Beach, California! The trip to CA was great (Tesla FSD for the win!) We made a couple stops on the way. St. George stairs, Din Thai Fung in Las Vegas, and we finally got to our hotel around 6pm. We spent some time on the beach and rested up for a full day of adventure. We ate at a great ramen restaurant with Josh’s Uncle Adam, saw the Rivian Theater, looked at tons of art galleries, Bronson documenting it all with his camera. Late afternoon came and we decided to end the day watching the sunset at a private beach called Three Arch Bay (thank you Sam for the hookup). With barely anyone on the beach, we practically had the whole thing to ourselves. Bronson had the camera set up to catch the sunset. The hazy horizon and cool ocean breeze made for great photo opportunities. Bronson said “Hey, I wanna get some nice photos of us together” and Josh agreed! As Bronson was setting up the tripod for timed photos, Josh grabbed a stick and started walking toward the ocean to put a marker for where to stand in so the shot was framed well. Bronson saw a moment of opportunity and scrambled to pull a small wooden box from the camera bag, and stuff it in the waistband of his board shorts because… no pockets (ok ladies, we see you). Hiding it just in time, Josh stopped and turned around to ask if he was in a good spot, Bronson said “Yes!” Josh drops the stick and waits for Bronson to waddle/run across the beach to where the camera is framed for some perfect silhouette photos. Josh notices as Bronson is joining him by the waves that a part of Bronson’s shirt is stuck in his waistband. Josh untucks it quickly (not realizing the little wooden box that is precariously held in place by waistline elastic and a prayer) and they pose for some great photos! As it cools down, and the pictures continue Josh tries 3 separate times to walk back to the beach towel to snack on some dried Mangoes. After the third time, Josh knows something is up. Bronson starts by grabbing Josh with both hands, squaring up and saying “hold on!” He says “I love you so much and you make me the best version of myself. I want that all the time” Bronson pulls the small wooden box out of his waistband, opens it and reveals a perfect brushed tungsten ring, and says: “Josh Radicic will you marry me” Josh is completely sobbing, like flat out UGLY crying at this point, and says “YES!” in probably the most incoherent way possible Bronson tries to hand Josh the box and Josh says “Put it on my finger silly!” They spend a few more moments soaking in the beauty of the ocean, nature, each other, their future together, and then return back to the beach towel to watch the sun finally set.
