How we met

Our paths have crossed several times throughout life. After college we happened to lived on the same street (Colfax Ave in Uptown) and had some mutual college friends. Britta spotted him shirtless with a cleaning rag one morning, and dreamed about him ever since... the incredible Laura Banken ultimately set us up when she sent Britta a snapchat of Jon while taking photos at Emily & Danny's wedding in Costa Rica. "You need to meet him, he is either your soulmate or your brother." At the time they both were living in Chicago, having both gone to graduate school at Northwestern University (Go Cats!). Ultimately, they started dating after a night to remember at the Turf Club while jamming to XIII Arrows. Our dating life spanned primarily across Chicago and NYC, with amazing friendships woven throughout. We have gravitated back home to our beloved home state of MN and are grateful to be building a life here together!

Wedding Party

Kirsten Johnson

Matron of Honor

The most creative and intelligent sister around. She is an amazing mother of 3 rambunctious boys, and incredible wife to her med school "body buddy" Elliot. Growing up, Britta could sit for hours watching her and their cousin Zach playing Super Mario 64. Britta did not enjoy as much being whipped around as a practice dummy during Kirsten's Judo phase. Kirsten's brain is unmatched, ask her to give you a powerpoint presentation about MN whiskeys or a rundown on the history of women's mental health. Britta has always been inspired and in awe of her older sister.

Emily Gorshe

Bridesmaid

The most relaxed and fun-loving bestie around. Emily is mother of sweet Lou, and wife of junior prom date Aaron. Britta and Em have dreams to become acro-yoga champions, and have been teaming up for physical endeavors since high school varsity soccer. They get really goofy together because their wave-length is exactly equal. Many times throughout life Britta and Emily have been mistaken for sisters.

Laura Banken

Bridesmaid

Laura is the most trusted and loyal lifelong friend. She is a mother to baby Forrest, and wife to beer-maker Dan. Laura and Britta have been putting on music and dancing like weirdos since elementary school in White Bear Lake. She is Britta's confidante, offering advice and wisdom along the winding roads of life. And with immense gratitude — she is the cupid that set us up!!!! We are so grateful her psychic powers knew we were a perfect match.

Keven Riley

Groomsman

Keven is as steady and consistent as they come. He is husband to the amazing Andrea, and they just became parents to sweet baby Kendall. He is Jon’s #1 golf guy, and goes out of his way to host and gather groups of friends.

Andy Benson

Groomsman

Andy is a quick-witted father of three beautiful girls, and husband to Anna. With Jon they followed the band Third Eye Blind like groupies. The boys have traveled the world together — trips to New Zealand, China, and Mexico. Ask them about the Halloween when they had a run-in with grapes!

Danny Hedlund

Groomsman

Danny is Jon’s very first friend, and has always been a part of the Aho family. He is father to Ozzy, and wife to Emily. Danny lights up a room with laughter, and cooks up the best venison in town.

During Em & Pat's wedding in Olympic National Park, mother nature blessed them with a rainbow during the ceremony!
During Andrea & Kev's unforgettable wedding in AZ.
Ely's first BWCA trip, she is named after our favorite place.
Lake Vermilion, our happy place.
Annual trips to NYC.
Sedona hiking, Britta prefers this in AZ and Jon would rather golf :)
Santa photo booth at Headflyer Brewery, one of our favorite neighborhood spots.
Our first Boundary Waters trip for Jon's bday, it froze overnight and Britta was worried he would never want to go again.

Things To Do

North Loop

Minneapolis, MN

This is a trendy, industrial neighborhood near the wedding venue. Highly recommend looking for accommodations here. For the mornings we love Backstory or FRGMNT coffee, consider a bagel at Rise. Pop over to Fulton, Inbound, or Modist for an afternoon brewery hang. Take a workout class at ALTR or shop for clothing at MartinPatrick 3.

Stone Arch Bridge

Stone Arch Bridge, Minneapolis, MN

Grab a breakfast sando at Alma Café (528 University Ave SE) and take a stroll across the iconic bridge that connects two neighborhoods J&B have lived in.

Mill City Farmers Market

750 South 2nd Street, Minneapolis, MN 55401

Britta is a farmer's market connoisseur and this is her favorite. Open Saturday morning 9a-1p. Near the Guthrie Theater, worth popping in to check out the incredible architecture including The Endless Bridge.

Boom Island Park

Minneapolis, MN 55413

Take a stroll through to peek at the fall foliage and imagine Ely frolicking around, this is one of her favorite parks to meet new friends and take a dip in the river.

Minneapolis Farmers Market

312 East Lyndale Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN 55405

Saturday, October 21st from 8a-1p. Located next to Glass House if you want to walk by and remember all the good times you had the night before.

FAQs

The Wedding Website of Britta Gauthier and Jonathan Aho
Question

Why are you having a Friday wedding?

Answer

We got engaged on December 30, 2022! We wanted to get married within the year and Saturday options were limited. Thank you for taking time off of work to celebrate with us, and we hope you will enjoy hanging in Minneapolis with the newlyweds all weekend!

Question

What should I wear to the wedding?

Answer

Whatever makes you feel good! The vibe of the venue is industrial modern, and the taco dinner is casual. The wedding party will be wearing autumn-inspired floor length dresses and suit jackets. Anything but jeans will do!

Question

Are children allowed?

Answer

We love your kids, and would prefer they stay home. Our niece and nephews will be a part of the ceremony and may show off their dance moves for a few songs before departing!

Question

Anything happening Saturday night?

Answer

Please join the happy couple for a few beers in the evening! Location TBD and likely to be one of our favorite breweries in Minneapolis.
