Will you be staying on the property? Please indicate on your RSVP if you intend to camp with us, and let us know if you would like to stay in one of the 12 kid's cabins with multiple bunk beds, or if you'll be bringing your own tent or camper with you. There are more than 12 cabins to depending on interest they may or may not be shared between families but we will reach out to anyone who expresses interest in staying in the cabins to try to ensure the most comfortable/familiar groupings as possible. There is space to pitch a tent and room for those that wish to bring a camper. Check out time is 10:00 Sunday and we intend to be good stewards of this special non-profit camp and leave it better than we found it. The 4-H camp is a non-profit educational youth camp. We are thrilled to be able to host our wedding at this camp, and to know that the event fees go to directly offset the cost for kids to attend this camp. The camp has 14 cabins equipped with bunk beds that our guests are welcome to stay in for the weekend. Some cabins have attached bathrooms while some cabins have access to shared bathrooms. Our dream is for a wedding with as many people staying together as possible so we hope you'll utilize the cabins or you are welcome to bring your own tents or campers to stay on the property. For those staying in cabins we kindly ask that you bring sleeping bags or reach out to us in Reno and we can work on having bedding available for you in the cabins!
4-H Camp Rd, Stateline, NV 89449
For Friday's ceremony, we kindly request dressy beach attire. Warm, earthy tones of any color are encouraged but please do not feel obligated to make a new purchase for this purpose. Weather permitting the ceremony will be on the beach and the walk from the parking lot to the beach includes mulch, sand, and soil, so comfortable, supportive shoes are encouraged. For the rest of the weekend please wear whatever you will feel most comfortable in to enjoy the camp. Average temperatures during August range from 80's during the day, and dip into the 40's overnight. Temperatures and wind in Tahoe can change quite drastically so we recommend bringing several layers and footwear options. Don't forget a swimsuit if you plan to enjoy the lake!
Kids are welcome all three days. Please indicate on your RSVP names and ages of children who will be in attendance for Friday's ceremony. We will have some games and activities planned for Saturday's beach day as well.
Please only bring a date if your wedding invitation includes a plus one.
Yes, please indicate on your RSVP food allergies/special requests and we will do our best to coordinate with the caterer to accommodate those needs.
We ask that you kindly RSVP by July 1st.
There is some parking available at the camp. Carpooling and utilizing taxis and ride-sharing is encouraged. There are Ubers, Lyfts, and local Taxi services available to the venue. The parking area is a few hundred yards from the beach where the ceremony will take place so please keep that in mind when planning your arrival time. The itinerary has some "meet and greet" time built in before the wedding for people to see the venue, get a drink, and say hi to one another and give everyone time to get to the beach. There will also be a golf cart or other vehicle available to help assist guests from the parking area to the beach.
There is no designated transportation as guests are invited to choose whichever accommodations best suit your needs, but Lyft and Uber both operate in South Lake Tahoe, and local taxis will be available to help you get home safely. For those feeling adventurous, several of the hotels are also within about a mile of the venue and would be a safe and relatively easy walk.
South Lake Tahoe is 6237 feet above sea level. For those coming from sea level, this altitude can pose some noticeable challenges. When traveling here it is very important to stay well hydrated, and to give yourself extra time for travel and walking so as to not overexert yourself. For those who plan to imbibe over the weekend- it is extra important to stay hydrated, eat well, and pace yourself, as you may find the effects of alcohol more potent at this altitude.
We are blessed to have the means to cover the material needs for both ourselves and our two fur babies so will not have a registry of items for purchase. If you would like to make a monetary contribution to help us kickstart our future and to help us make our contribution to this beautiful non-profit camp, there will be a way to do so.
Beer, wine, and seltzers will be offered throughout the weekend. If guests have a specific desired beverage they are permitted to bring their own.
The cabins are the same utilized by the kids at camp- each have a number of twin size bunk beds, and power. They do not have heat or air conditioning, though we expect temperatures to be mild overnight. The bathrooms are shared by multiple cabins and have several sinks, toilets and showers. Personal toiletries, towels, and a sleeping bag and twin size sheet or twin sheets and a blanket and pillow are encouraged.
Fires pose a major threat in California and Nevada and we must do our part to be mindful of that danger. There will be a designated smoking section in the parking lot of the venue. No other smoking of any kind will be permitted elsewhere on the property. Bears are our neighbors in Tahoe and as the saying goes, "a fed bear is a dead bear". Bears that gain access to human food become habituated to returning to the scene of the treat and many bears are euthanized because of human carelessness. It is important therefore that food and toiletries are kept out of cars, and that no food or trash is left out overnight where it may be accessed by a bear.
