Don't accidentally book a flight to the other Charleston...in West Virginia (seriously!)
Located in the Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge, Bulls Island is a 5,000-acre maritime forest and beach. The 6.5-mile uninhabited island remains virtually untouched. Due to popularity, it is now difficult to access without a guided tour. ~1 hour drive from downtown.
The ceremony and cocktail hour are indoors. The seated dinner and dancing are outdoors in a covered, paved space of our venue’s garden. The average temperature for Charleston in late October is high 60s, low 70s.
Yes! Our ceremony and reception will both be held at The Gibbes Museum of Art. When you arrive at the museum, please enter through the main doors on Meeting Street. The ceremony is upstairs in the Rotunda. Signage will direct you to the stairs and elevators. Our cocktail hour and reception will be downstairs.
The dress code for the evening is black tie. We ask that gentlemen please wear a tuxedo or black suit, and ladies please wear a floor-length gown.
Burgundy, forest green, sage green, and blush pink.
Charleston is best explored on foot, and our venue is in the heart of downtown. Uber/Lyft is readily available for anything just out of walking distance. If you're planning day trips far out of downtown and are staying at a hotel with parking, you might consider a car rental. Please note that our venue, The Gibbes Museum, does not have any on-site parking. We encourage guests to use a ride share.
Although we adore the children of our family and friends, we kindly ask that they stay home for the evening. We appreciate your understanding! Please let us know if you need assistance finding childcare in Charleston.
If your invitation is addressed to you and a guest, you are welcome to bring a plus one. Otherwise, we are unable to accommodate an additional guest. If you have a special circumstance you’d like to discuss with the bride and groom, please do not hesitate to reach out.
