Things To Do
Mount Bonnell Hike (.5 miles including some stairs)
This is a short hike but a great way to get outdoors and look out over Lake Austin lined with stunning Westlake homes. Lake Austin is some of the most coveted space in the city of Austin. I suggest getting a morning coffee and taking a stroll.
Zilker Metropolitan Park
Bring a towel or blanket and enjoy the outdoors with locals. You can enjoy the skyline with open space. If you do not like dogs, this is not your place! There will be sports, social gatherings and dogs roaming around.
Lady Bird Lake/Town Lake Trail
You can start walking on the trail from many different directions. A lot of our friends start at Noble Joe's Coffee truck and take a loop. You can also start at Veracruz Tacos at the Line Hotel or even Manana coffee and start by crossing the pedestrian bridge! The trail loops around the Colorado River Downtown and stays busy as Austin is a very active city. It is a common activity to meet friends for a breakfast taco or coffee and go on a walk! You can customize how long you want to walk!
Barton Springs
December Weather may not allow for a visit to Barton Springs but I highly recommend if you're back in Austin! It is a natural spring and a core Austin attraction.

My preferred Coffee stop on South Congress! You can order from a to-go window or sit down inside and order food as well.

Aba is an aesthetically pleasing Mediterranean restaurant that offers indoor and outdoor seating! You can make a reservation or walk in if you have a smaller party but it is a popular spot.

Pizza is great but I recommend the Italian Sub!!!!
Red Ash
Best Italian in Austin. Dinner only. Make a reservation in advance or wait in line at 5pm for an opening.
The Continental Club
A solid live music venue on SOCO.
Cosmic Saltillo
This is one of my favorite spots to meet a friend for coffee/tacos or to work from on a pretty day!
Canje
Truly one of the BEST restaurants and so unique! Dinner spot.
Sour Duck Market
One of Margaret's favorite effortless spots. They have amazing Breakfast, lunch & dinner!
De Nada Cantina
A casual Mexican spot that is also cute and fun! If you drink the margaritas, beware they are strong!
Paperboy East
The Texas Hash is a repeated order. One of the best brunches in Austin! You need a reservation but they did open a second location so that may help you out.
Cenote
One of the comfort foods we keep returning to. The breakfast burrito used to be our absolute favorite until the new chef started changing the potatoes but it is still amazing!
Latchkey
As an adult going out, East 6th is your oyster. Latchkey's slogan is "A daycare for adults" and it can get really fun!
LoLo
This is a nice spot for people who want a drink and to chill! There will still be a DJ most nights (because it is Austin) outside, a great environment inside and outside. They offer natural wine and relaxed space for socializing.
The Flower Shop Austin
3 story bar on the Eastside that is fun! This is a late night out spot.
Ramen Tatsu-Ya
Amazing Ramen if you want something warm.

Lounge/Cocktails in a restored house! An option for drinks on the west side.

One of the places West I would go with a couple friends who want to feel like they're in Paris and drink wine.
Veracruz All Natural
Great tacos if you want something easy!
Fonda San Miguel
This is in Brandon and I's neighborhood but the best (upscale) Mexican food in Austin! You will need a reservation or you can get lucky and walk in to sit in the atrium.
Tatsumi Sushi
Best sushi. Uchi, Uchiko and Uchiba are said to be the best & they are good but this is better.
Loro Asian Smokehouse & Bar
Asian fusion BBQ and more! Margaret doesn't like BBQ but loves this.
Swedish Hill South First
Great spot for good eats and fresh food! Order and sit down spot but no laptops allowed. Only eating, no working!
Teal House Coffee & Bakery
Best homemade cinnamon roll in Austin.
Terry Black's Barbecue
A very popular tourist attraction but for a reason! There is always a line.
Asado's Taqueria
More north in Brandon and Margaret's neighborhood but THE BEST BURRITO in Austin.
Lou’s Eastside
Eastside Crunch salad and the sandwiches are the best!
Fig Italian Kitchen & Bar
Great Italian but don't always need a reservation as in advance as Red Ash.

Healthy but good spot! West 2nd street area.
