It was April of 2024, and Maggie was getting ready to start her month-long rotation (during her second year of emergency medicine residency at VCU) in the Veterans Affairs Hospital Emergency Department. She had to go in on Friday, before starting the rotation, for an impromptu orientation with one of the doctors who helps coordinate with the residency program. Brandon says that he saw Maggie that day on her tour and immediately knew he was going to ask her out. Maggie doesn't remember seeing Brandon at all; in fact, she had cried on the drive over because it was her last day off before starting another rotation at a new hospital. She was tired and just wanted to sleep, had thrown on dirty scrubs, barely brushed her hair, and walked into the VA ED with a "let's get this over with" attitude she wears all too well. Days later, as Maggie was running into the rotation barely on time, she slid into the department through an open triage room that she thought was empty and was shocked, maybe even pleasantly surprised to see a model dressed as a nurse sitting there. He immediately got a huge smile on his face, said hi, and asked how she was doing. I think Maggie grunted in response, still caught off guard that something this attractive could survive in that hospital. Two weeks later, Maggie showed up to shift after the conference to find every single computer in use, so she went to the back annex, where some extra computers lived, to find Brandon sitting there as well. Brandon was supposed to be moved to another section to take care of patients when Maggie showed up, but he begged the charge nurse to let him keep covering the annex so he could actually talk to her. Next came the last day of the rotation, and Brandon knew he had to get Maggie's number before she left. In typical Brandon fashion, he opted to send an email, and then got anxious that Maggie would never check that email since it was solely through the VA (and he was right, she would not have), so Brandon wrote a note that he left on her desk to say she should check her email. Maggie texted him that day, and they went on their first date on May 1st, 2024. Brandon grew up in Norfolk, Virginia. He joined the Marines at 18, with several deployments overseas, and quickly rose through the ranks, excelling in both intelligence and athletics. After leaving the Marines, he joined the Army Reserves as a medic. He went through nursing school and has been a nurse for the past 15 years. He was in the community, serving as the nurse manager of an Emergency Department in downtown Richmond, before taking his current job at the VA Emergency Department. Maggie completed medical school in Scranton, PA, in 2022 and was all too excited to be accepted into the VCU Emergency Medicine Residency program. Her life is much less exciting than Brandon's and has really only involved working, sleeping, and eating. She graduated from VCU EM Residency in 2025 and now works as an attending physician at Memorial Regional Emergency Department, about 20 minutes outside of Richmond, VA. Maggie and Brandon have done nothing but make up for lost time since they've been together over the past two years. They got their puppy, Sully Taylor (an adorable Cavapoo - cavalier king charles spaniel and poodle mix) in April of 2025 at the same time as they bought their first house in Richmond, Virginia. We got engaged in Tampa, Florida, in July of 2025, where we went on vacation shortly after my last ever residency shift. We have been adjusting to Maggie's new job, planning our wedding, and enjoying our new home and puppy.

Maid of Horror
This Maid of Horror is still listed in my phone as "Gigi Kerestesy Mom DG" - an homage to the day I got her number. It was BID DAY 2014 and we were welcomed by our pledge class "Mom", the one and only Gianna. I was her favorite out of whole pledge class, and she BEGGED me to be her "Little" sister. Even if she says I tricked her into thinking I was sweet and innocent, she has been my best friend ever since.
Bridesmaid
That girl who lives in my back yard.
Bridesmaid
Thank goodness we got past our rivalry on the softball field (third grade CYA cubs rec league softball is where we met; I twirled my hair and chewed bubble gum and Alex was a competitive athlete and really hated the girl who wanted to read her book in the outfield) to become lifelong friends!
Bridesmaid
You can take the girl out of Tampa but you'll never take the tattoos she got in Tampa out of the girl (and thank god for that because Tampa is where she corrupted me into getting my first tattoo AND my nose ring one year later).
Bridesmaid
The older sister I was lucky enough to have and try to be exactly like - she is the reason I started twirling my hair FYI
Bridesmaid
The extrovert to my introvert. At first she may have felt like she was talking to a brick wall since I was wary of this bubbly personality with way too much energy and positivity, but THANK GOD Britt just kept talking because she is one of the best people you will ever meet, and trust me everyone will talk to her at some point (she really is that friendly).
Bridesmaid
She is better known as KP because saying her last name is the one test I was never able to pass. I am so glad I had the chance to mentor her when I was her senior resident on shift. I really taught her everything I know. This girl's hair is full of secrets, and my favorite part of the day is when she says, "Did I tell you....".
Bridesmaid
Sweet sweet Lacy, always nervously laughing at my off the wall comments, but thankfully she actually finds some things I say funny and has been the best johnny rockets eating, hoarders watching, traveling buddy, friend, amigo, confidant (the list goes on) a girl could ask for
Junior Bridesmaid
Poised. Also Wild. Watches Molly Climbs the wall and rolls her eyes.
Junior Bridesmaid
Wild. Beautiful. May be climbing the wall or doing her makeup.

Junior Groomsman
My oldest son and Junior Groomsman— whether he likes the spotlight or not. He’s quiet, humble, and would absolutely prefer to be anywhere that doesn’t involve standing in front of a crowd… but he’s showing up for me anyway. He’s a great kid with a solid head on his shoulders, strong character, and a heart that’s even bigger than his dad’s wedding day nerves.
Junior Groomsman
Jameson is exactly what his name suggests — smooth, bold, and guaranteed to leave an impression. He has never met a spotlight he didn’t love. If there’s attention available, he’s already claimed it. He’s funny, full of personality, and has the energy of a golden retriever who just discovered espresso. Whether he’s cracking jokes, striking a pose, or turning an ordinary moment into a performance, he keeps everyone entertained.
Flower Girl
Lou Lou loves Halloween as much as (if not more than) I do and she did not have any specific demands when she agreed to throw hershey kisses at all the guests. The good news is she will happily be the star of the show and steal the spotlight right off of Thomas.
The Ring Dude
This Ring Dude can't emphasize enough how much he hates the spotlight, but he very tentatively agreed to take on this role as long as there is plenty of candy, absolutely no one claps or acknowledges him, and he gets to carry the rings down in a bucket of slime.
One of Richmond’s most beautiful gems, Maymont is a stunning 100-acre historic estate filled with breathtaking gardens, rolling hills, fountains, and scenic walking paths. The Canal Walk is a scenic, paved path along downtown Richmond’s historic canals and the James River. It’s perfect for a relaxed stroll with beautiful water views, murals, and plenty of spots to stop for photos. The Canal Walk in Richmond has access points at nearly every block between 5th and 17th Streets.
Brown’s Island sits right along the James River in the heart of downtown and is one of the best spots in Richmond for river views and sunset walks. With pedestrian bridges, skyline views, and open green space, it’s a great place to relax, explore, or snap a few photos while you’re in town. Enjoy a walk across the T. Tyler Potterfield Memorial Bridge, which crosses the James River and offers incredible panoramic views of the city skyline and the river rapids. It’s also just a short walk from the historic Virginia State Capitol. Great views!
Scott’s Addition is Richmond’s trendiest neighborhood, packed with breweries, cideries, cocktail bars, and casual eateries. Wander the streets to check out local art, murals, and historic warehouse buildings turned into shops and boutiques.
Richmond’s food scene is as lively and diverse as the city itself, cozy bistros, bustling cafés, sleek modern spots, and everything in between. From Southern comfort to global flavors, there’s a vibe (and a bite) for every mood. Perfect for exploring before or after our big day!
