We met in 2015 at a mutual friend’s Quincenera. We were both in really bad spots in our lives at the time. Our first photo together was actually the night we met. I was taking a selfie and Joey photo bombed! He came up behind me and wrapped his arm around my waist, pulled me close and we just took the picture! No hesitation and no questions asked. I don’t know why I kept the photo because I didn’t even know his name at this point, but for some reason, I did. And I’m glad I did! We started to hang out more and more with our friends and got to know each other very well. There is a 14 year age difference between us (I’m older), so when he approached me about being together, I was very hesitant. I had just gotten out of a bad marriage and he was just 21, about to turn 22 years old in a few days. I had two kids and he had none, which gave me big reservations because I didn’t want to take that away from him. His response?!? He didn’t care, my kids are his kids and he didn’t want babies. I was like, Are you sure?!? Like you have to be sure! 😂 He was sure! So we started dating and he moved in with me pretty much immediately. After about a year and a half together, we bought our home for our little family. Still had a lot of ups and downs, but we worked through them together. He has always been there for the kids, never once wavered from them. As the kids get older we have been able to have more “us” time. Taking trips together, etc. no matter what happens or what comes up, we deal with it and face it together. For our 8 year anniversary, we went to Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 to visit with mom mom and pop pop. Little did I know that he had bought an engagement ring 💍 and was going to propose, but apparently everyone else knew! His Aunt had bought some decorations and sent them to PR. He waited until a few days after our anniversary to propose. Pop Pop took us to this bar restaurant on the beach and he spoke to the bartender a few days prior so she knew we would be coming! His aunts bought us a few things, like him a nice shirt and me some jewelry, which was so sweet! We went to the beach on Sunday October 29th, 2023 and we took a walk together. After our beach walk we went to the bar restaurant and sat down for a drink. He said he was going out to move the car up, but he was actually going to get my ring. He comes walking in with the bartender behind him recording on his phone and he proposed! I was soooooooo happy I couldn’t stop crying! Now we are in full wedding planning mode! December 14, 2024 is the big day and we cannot wait to marry each other, our best friend! ❤️🥰❤️
