We met in a small out of the way Nepalese village as part of a contingent of volunteers each representing our respective countries, Bernie from New Zealand and Steve, Australia, to rebuild the local school after recent earthquakes that had devastated much of Nepal. We were both seeking respite from usual occupations, not anything else, and couldn’t at the time imagine the friendship built over those three weeks in Nepal volunteering and running around Kathmandu, would lay the foundation for the relationship which was to build and develop over the following seven years. And here we are, many adventures, challenges, lessons and experiences later ready to officiate our journey with the people that mean the most to us.
