We met just after Bailey moved to Champaign-Urbana for work in 2021. Our first date was the Saturday before Bailey started 2nd shift…and we liked each other so much, we went out again the very next day. From then on, things just clicked. Marion took on the role of tour guide, showing Bailey the best restaurants, parks, and spots around town (plus campus—even though Bailey swore this was not going to be an Illinois household). About a year later, we “accidentally” adopted our dog, Isaac, after Marion’s parents thought about taking him. Best spontaneous decision ever! In 2024, Bailey headed to Chicago for grad school, which kicked off our long-distance chapter. Turns out, the time apart only made it clearer how much we loved being together. After Marion helped Bailey through a concussion, Bailey knew for sure Marion was the one, and we decided to move up our timeline for the future. Fast-forward to May 2025, Marion popped the question—right where we had our second date. Full circle! We can’t wait for a lifetime of cooking (and sometimes failing) elaborate meals, taking long walks through new neighborhoods and scenery, and roughhousing with Isaac (and whatever future dogs join the pack)! Most of all, we’re so grateful for the love and support of the people around us. We can’t wait to celebrate our special day with you, and share all the days beyond it!
