For our five-year anniversary, we started planning a big trip. Since Aviraj is an airline pilot, we often travel using standby tickets, so he gave me the fun assignment of creating an itinerary for France. I spent hours planning the details. Traveling with Aviraj is usually chaotic and last-minute on standby, so I didn't think anything of the travel planning changes. Little did I know, the France trip was a complete fake-out. He had secretly booked our real destination: the stunning Amalfi Coast in Italy. A few days before leaving, he delivered the news that the France flights were full, pivoting us to Italy instead. He even photoshopped the tickets to say we were on standby. On the way to the airport, he suddenly asked me to pick our hotel from a short list. Every place seemed pretty bad except for one stunning resort, which I chose—and which, of course, turned out to be the exact one he had already booked! Because our travel is always so fluid, I felt like I was taking charge of our backup trip. Once we arrived, Aviraj was focused on my wardrobe. I had one beautiful white dress packed, and I really wanted to wear it for our early dinners. But every time I tried, he’d veto it, making excuses like, "We should match for photos; you should wear the blue to match my shirt," or other similar comments. I got a little frustrated, but I decided to agree and save the dress—good thing I did. The day of the proposal, he insisted he was starving and needed a very early, 3:00 PM "dinner," even though he had booked us a 5:30 PM reservation elsewhere. It was odd, but I went along with it. Since I'd worn everything else, I finally put on my favorite—the white dress. Before heading out, he did something very out of character: he insisted we take a shot of Limoncello from our hotel room's mini-bar. It was strange seeing him act so different, but it was fun, so I agreed. (He later confessed this was his attempt to calm his nerves.) We walked toward Villa Magia. I remembered Aviraj telling me it was fully booked, so I was happy we had secured a table. Unbeknownst to me, Aviraj knew everyone at the hotel. The hostess greeted us and apologized that the famous balcony was "closed for an event." As we walked past the balcony, I saw a violinist practicing and a photographer setting up equipment—it looked like a beautiful wedding was happening. I even stopped to admire the view and take a picture of that exact spot. At our table, I mentioned to Aviraj that I truly thought the event happening on the balcony was a wedding. Eventually, the hostess returned. "I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. Would you like to take a quick photo on the balcony now before the event officially starts?" I agreed. I even asked her one last time if it was a wedding; she gave a slightly flustered, "Ahhh... no." We approached the balcony, and the moment we stepped out, the violinist began playing "Young and Beautiful" by Lana Del Rey. The hostess took my phone to capture what I thought would be a nice couple photo. As we posed, Aviraj turned to me, held my hands, and with the incredible backdrop of the Amalfi Coast behind us, he asked me to marry him. I said yes, and this became the start of our forever.

Flight
For guests planning to fly to Rhode Island for the wedding, the closest airport is Providence Int'l Airport (PVD). It usually takes between 40 minutes - 1 hour to arrive at the venue directly from the airport, depending on traffic.
Flight
We also recommend that guests who plan to fly also consider Boston Logan Int'l Airport (BOS). It is between 1 hour 30 minutes and a 2 hour drive to Newport from the airport. Although it is a bit further, there are many more flight options and prices can sometimes be a lot cheaper!

This is where our ceremony and reception will take place. However, there is limited availability due to size of the hotel. For convenience, please check out OceanCliff 1 &2. This hotel is on the same property where we are getting married!
