We first met at a Spanish conversation group organized by a common friend, Barbara, who Aura knew from a motorcycle club and Jim knew from a French club. We both attended the Spanish group for about three years, but being assigned to separate subgroups we never paid much attention to each other. Then, one day Barbara invited the entire Spanish group to a country western dance event being organized by the motorcycle club. Jim decided to attend and join the group. However, when he arrived to the country western dance event, to his surprise, he found out that the only other members of the Spanish group in attendance were Barbara and Aura. Barbara was with her husband, and Aura, not wanting to leave Jim alone, sat with him. They started a conversation which lasted until the end of the event, and then until they got kicked out of the bar they went to afterwards, and then until they both fell asleep. After that, they kind of drifted apart again. And then, on December 31, Aura stopped by to visit their common friend (also form the Spanish Club), Judy Stadt, who with great foresight adamantly insisted that Aura should call Jim because they were a great match. Aura and Jim spent that New Years Eve together and have been inseparable ever since, through many adventures like camping, kayaking, traveling... They have also been inseparable through some difficult moments, like Covid, which they feel helped cement their relationship.
