Brian and Athena were introduced by a mutual friend, Rick Bower, at a time when neither was actively looking for love — which, naturally, made it the perfect setup. What started as calls and texts quickly turned into travel, trust, and a surprising amount of time spent together, capped off by a very strategic PowerPoint presentation Brian created to properly explain his life and earn Athena’s favorable decision (it worked). From Greektown in Chicago — where the food was aggressively just okay — to countless small Illinois towns Athena never knew existed, plus military balls, wineries, river walks, and a shared love of travel, their connection kept growing. Guided by timing, humor, and what they lovingly call the Red String Theory, their paths stayed intertwined. Brian continues to serve his country, Athena continues to serve Veterans and their families, and together they’re excited to celebrate this next chapter with all of you.
