Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Ashlyn Allen and Marcus Patterson
We are so honored you will be joining us for the wedding! While you are in town, we wanted to share some of our favorite places and adventures with you. The wedding ceremony will take place at Christ the King Catholic Church in Cedar City. The reception will be held at The Cedar Rose Estate which is about 20 minutes north of Cedar City in Parowan. Sticking close to town? Main Street in both Cedar City and Parowan are fun for shopping, eating, and coffee breaks. Some of our favorite restaurants in Cedar City are Pork Belly’s, The Pub, and Centro Pizza. Marcus loves Bombay Cafe for Indian food. Parowan has a great Mexican restaurant called Calavario’s. Another favorite stomping ground in Parowan is Dry Lakes Beef. They farm, ranch, and sell some of the highest quality beef you can find. Even if you aren’t buying meat, their gift shop is great!

Frontier Homestead State Park Museum

635 North Main Street, Cedar City, UT 84721

Getting to know the history of Cedar City and the state of Utah can be done at the Frontier Homestead Museum in Cedar City. Visitors learn about the development of Utah’s Iron County while exploring historic buildings, engaging in hands-on activities such as gold mining. We like to bring our younger visitors here!

Utah Shakespeare Festival

195 West Center Street, Cedar City, UT 84720

“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players.” Sound familiar? If you are a Shakespeare fan it could, and you might be interested in The Shakespeare Festival which presented its first season in 1962. There are several plays to take in June through October in Cedar City.

Lake at the Hills

Lake at the Hills

Cedar City, UT 84720

Feeling a little fishy? There are plenty of places to fish around here. The Lake at the Hills is located right in Cedar City. In addition to fishing, the lake has a nice beach and picnic areas to enjoy. Other favorite fishing holes are Yankee Meadows and the pond in Brian Head. Fishing licenses can be purchased online or at Sportsman’s in Cedar City.

Hidden Haven Trailhead to Benson Creek Waterfalls

Hidden Haven Trailhead to Benson Creek Waterfalls

Brian Head, UT 84719

Go take a hike! If you want to, of course! The Hidden Haven trail is located less than 10 minutes from Parowan. It is a moderate 1.4-mile out-and-back trail near Brian Head. At the end of this trail is a beautiful waterfall. In winter, the waterfall is frozen!

Brian Head

Brian Head

Brian Head, UT 84719

Want to take it a little higher? Brian Head is about a thirteen-mile drive from Parowan. We like to think of it as our “Idyllwild from Hemet” town. It is a mountain village with a pond that Marcus and Robert like to fish, hikes and walking paths to travel, and a few great shops and restaurants. Be warned, the air is a little thinner in Brian Head. The base elevation is 9,800 ft with an elevation at the peak of 11,300 ft.

Cedar Breaks National Monument

Cedar Breaks National Monument

Brian Head, UT 84719

Cedar Breaks National Monument. We like to call it a mini–Grand Canyon right in our own backyard. It is about four miles up the road from Brian Head. The wildflowers in summer have been spectacular! It is also a great place for stargazing. Cedar Breaks sits at over 10,000 feet and looks down into a half-mile deep geologic amphitheater. Located approximately 20 miles from Parowan.

Parowan Gap Petroglyphs

Parowan Gap Petroglyphs

Iron County, UT 84714

Dinosaurs Tracks and Petroglyphs, oh my! Another favorite area we love is Parowan Gap. Here you can search for dinosaur tracks and view petroglyphs. It is about 17 minutes from Parowan.

Festival City Farmers Market

100 West West University Boulevard, Cedar City, UT 84720

Farmers markets are a big thing around here. There is one right in Cedar City each Saturday from 9am-1pm. You can find lots of treasures from fresh fruits and veggies, freeze dried candy, to fresh baked breads just to name a few!

Zion National Park

UT

Looking to venture out a little further? Zion National Park is about 40 minutes away. It does get busy in summer months.

Cedar City Visitor Center

581 North Main Street, Cedar City, UT 84721
, 435-586-5124

Looking for local maps or a nice gift shop for souvenirs? The Cedar City Visitor Center has what you are looking for! They also have great historical displays, too! Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm & Saturday 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

Independence Day Festivities

Independence Day Festivities

Cedar City, UT

Staying in Utah a little longer? We love the small town feel of the parades and festivities for Fourth of July in Parowan and Cedar City. Don’t be too shocked when you see helicopters flying down Main Street to start the parades! Fireworks are held at the Cedar City Municipal Airport in Cedar City and end with a “bang!” They use solid rocket fuel to light up the sky for their grand finale!
