Okay, well our love story is maybe a little less glamorous than an episode of Grey's Anatomy - but Shonda Rhimes did get one thing right- the hospital is a great place to find your future spouse! When you work long, irregular hours, you're bound to seek solace in a work colleague that is in the same boat as you. Ashley often sought out Ben to vent about - you name it- tough patient encounters, less than ideal hospital food, and more often than not, the most recent bad date she had struggled through. Finally, after a year of being her steadfast office confidant, Ben saw his window of opportunity to ask Ashley out on a date, and thank goodness he took the chance! After a night out of oysters, Dallas theater, and listening to an entire Blink-182 CD (yep, CDs still exist in Ben world), the two realized that there had been a more-than-friends connection all along, that seemed foolish not to pursue. Cue: the next 5 years! As Rihanna so poetically puts it- "We found love in a hopeless place". Joking aside, Baylor Hospital will always hold such meaning for us as a couple. Wouldn't trade those early years for the world!
