The Swipe That Started It All

It's a Match!

Who said dating apps don’t work?! Shawn wasn’t looking for love when he got on the apps, and Andrea wasn’t looking for someone under the age of 27, but somehow love finds a way! What began with a simple match turned into a 12-hour first date, and more than six years of never knowing what nonsense the other one will come up with next. While it might seem like we're always keeping each other on our toes, we have never felt more grounded. Through pandemics, apartment hunting, first time paw-rents, and all the other life changing moments along the way. Through every high and low, we choose each other, every single time. So here we are, beginning the next chapter of our adventure and sharing it with the family and friends who have supported us and made every step of this journey possible. We can’t wait to celebrate this forever with all of you.

Elopathon Info

Many of you were already planning to cheer us on for the Chicago Marathon on Sunday (10/11), so we figured–our shoelaces shouldn't be the only knots being tied. Nothing would make us happier than celebrating our elopement together with all of you. We know it’s a big ask to fly to Chicago for dinner, so please don’t feel any pressure to attend. We’re thankful either way and can’t wait for a weekend of crossing milestones and celebration! After all, this is the race to the finish, with medals around our necks, rings around our fingers, and a love strong enough to brave the Grand Line.

Travel Guide

The Wedding Website of Andrea Hernandez and Shawn Ibonnet
We recommend flying into Chicago O’Hare (ORD)–it’s the easiest airport to get to the city. Alla Vita is downtown, about a 20-minute drive from the airport, depending on traffic. You can also take the CTA Blue Line train, which takes about 45-50 minutes and is a cheaper option. Chicago is easy to get around (similar to New York), and Ubers and Lyfts are easy to find, so getting to the restaurant or around the city should be simple, except on Marathon Sunday! Keep in mind that it’s Marathon weekend, so flights and hotels tend to fill up quickly–book early if you can! We have a hotel block at Holiday Inn Express (add'l information below), so although it's further away from the downtown area, it's price conscious and available! Similar properties in the immediate downtown area are either sold out or double/triple the price.

We were able to secure a discounted group rate at this location. Hotel block dates are 10/9 (Fri) - 10/13 (Tues). Feel free to book however long you wish to stay but any days outside of those dates are outside of the discounted block rates. Please note, this hotel is about a 30-min drive to Alla Vita and the greater downtown area (depending on traffic). As noted above, you can always take the CTA, which is about 45-50 mins to downtown.

FAQs

Questions or concerns? Reach out to us! Andrea tends to beat Shawn to the reply, so she’s your go-to.
Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

No later than July 20th, but prefer sooner if possible.

Question

Can I bring a plus-one?

Answer

Unfortunately, we’re unable to accommodate additional guests, as this is a small, intimate wedding with very limited seating.

Question

What time should I arrive at the restaurant?

Answer

We are on a tight schedule so would appreciate everyone arriving around 4PM. We are planning the ceremony to begin at 4:30PM SHARP.

Question

Is there an after-party?

Answer

Most likely but still a work in progress.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Look nice, feel comfortable!

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

Please see Travel Guide section for details.

Question

Are there transportation options?

Answer

The most budget-friendly way is the CTA: take the Green or Pink Line to Clinton (just a 2-3 minute walk) or walk from nearby stations like Chicago (Red Line) or Washington/Wells (10-15 minutes). For a more direct option, you can take Uber or Lyft straight to the restaurant.

Question

Do you have a gift registry?

Answer

Yes! Check out the Registry section of our site.
