Travel Note
As we finalize all of the wedding details, please keep an eye out for text updates regarding event start times, shuttle services (including pickup locations and schedules), recommended accommodations, local restaurants, activities, and additional travel tips. All updates will be sent directly to your cell phone and reflected here on our website once confirmed with our wedding planner, Isabella. To make communication easier while abroad, we highly recommend downloading WhatsApp. We’ll be creating a group chat for all guests so that any announcements, changes, or helpful travel information can be shared quickly and conveniently in one place. Below is a PDF listing out all of our recommended accommodations, restaurants, and activities with clickable links!
Flight
All guests must fly into Catania Airport in Sicily, it is the closest airport to the wedding venue (Villa Mon Repos) and the city of Taormina, where all the wedding events will be taking place. There are direct flights to Catania out of JFK airport, but if flying out of Dulles or BWI expect a layover. We kindly request that all guest arrive by Wednesday September 16th to partake in welcome festivities that evening!
Hotel
There are plenty of hotels in the city of Taormina. We recommend you stay as close to the city center as possible, from that location everything you will need access to is in walking distance. Please reference our 4 page PDF link for hotel recommendations.
Hotel
In addition to a numerous amount of hotels in the city of Taormina. There are plenty of AirBNBs/ Villas available to rent as well. This would be a good option for families or groups of guests wanting to stay together.
Europe has always been close to my heart, and when Jake & I visited Italy together for the first time, we instantly fell in love, especially with the charming seaside town of Taormina, Sicily, where our wedding will take place. Between the breathtaking views, warm hospitality, and timeless romance, it felt like the perfect setting to celebrate this new chapter of our lives. We know a destination wedding means extra travel and planning, and we want you to know that your presence is never expected, only deeply appreciated. Whether you join us in Italy or celebrate from afar, your love and support mean the world to us. For those making the trip, we can’t wait to share this unforgettable experience with you! A weekend filled with sunshine, laughter, and la dolce vita.
Travel time from the airport to Taormina is approx 55 min. There are taxis readily available directly at the airport, or you can arrange a private transfer. Isabella or I can help assist you once your arrival times are finalized.
You can, but we don't recommend it while staying in Taormina since most activities, accommodations, and shops are all in close walking proximity. The roads are also extremely tight and narrow, and street parking is only reserved for locals. There are plenty of taxis available as well.
Yes. There will be a designated pickup time and location for guests staying closer to the city center and surrounding areas to take to the wedding venue. Those details will be provided once they are finalized. We don't recommend walking even with the close proximity to the city center, since the venue is downhill and on a main road.
Welcome Dinner: Italian Chic- Effortlessly stylish yet relaxed, lightweight dresses, midi skirts, or linen sets for the ladies, and linen shirts or polos with chinos or tailored shorts for the gentlemen. Think breathable fabrics, summery colors, and comfortable shoes perfect for an evening of pizza, prosecco, and Sicilian sunsets. Wedding: We kindly ask our guests to join us in Mediterranean Formal Attire- timeless, elegant, and perfectly suited for a summer celebration overlooking the Sicilian sea. For the Ladies: Think elevated and airy floor-length dresses in light, flowy fabrics like chiffon, silk, or satin. Soft pastels, florals, or vibrant summer hues are all welcome. Dressy heels, wedges, or elegant sandals are perfect. For the Gentlemen: A lightweight suit or dress pants with a blazer in summer tones such as tan, light gray, black or navy. Pair with a crisp button-down and dress shoes or loafers. Ties and bowties are welcome. Overall Vibe: Effortlessly elegant, warm, and romantic. Please avoid jeans, casual sundresses, the color white, or flip-flops. (Please note: it can get a bit chilly at night but I expect everyone to be dancing the night away... so I wouldn't worry about that too much!!) Recovery Party: Coastal Casual- swimsuits, linen, and sunnies encouraged for a relaxed day by the sea.
We kindly ask that only those listed on your invitation attend our celebration. Due to limited space, we are unable to accommodate additional guests or children. We hope you understand and appreciate your help in making this an intimate memorable celebration. We look forward to celebrating with you!
