we're getting married

Thank goodness for Hinge! It really is the app that is meant to be deleted! Shane and I 'liked' each other's profiles on Hinge in May of 2022. I was finishing up my master's at Northwood and Shane was the Athletic Director at Birch Run High School. We texted back and forth and talked on the phone for about 2 weeks until we had our first date! We met in person for the first time in Saginaw and had such a good time that we planned a second date! We went out and were watching some games, when unfortunately the restaurant was closing (we must really have liked each other haha). Since we didn’t want the night to end we headed over to the Wheel Inn. While we were there, oddly enough, the waitress made fun of Shane for 'Rocking the Cradle' (we're only 3 years apart). That night was so special, getting to know each other and truly starting to see something in the future. From then on Shane visited me at school, we golfed, got to know each other's friends, and spent a lot of time out on the lake. Talk about summer lovin! Shane asked me to be his girlfriend in August and since then we've been building an amazing life together, we are so excited to tie the knot in September!

Shane proposed on October 13, 2024 at the Royal Park Hotel in downtown Rochester, MI. What I thought was a normal brunch date on a late Sunday morning turned out to be the most exciting day of my life! We left the house after I got home from coaching a soccer game and got ready to go to brunch. I had never been to the Royal Park Hotel so I assumed Shane knew where he was going as we parked and headed toward a gated entrance. Shane opened the gate for me, and of course, being myself, I started walking so fast Shane had to tell me to slow down. As I turned around, I noticed a woman with a camera in the corner, surprise! As I looked back at Shane, he was grinning ear to ear as he made his way down on one knee. Everything he said after that was a blur as I was in pure shock! The rest is history! Our families were waiting on the other side of the building to surprise me after the proposal. It was so sweet to share that moment with both of our families, and made me even more excited that I get to marry the man of my dreams! We are so overjoyed to be getting married, and are so happy to be sharing this special day with you.
