Flight
We recommend flying into Malaga- Costa del Sol Airport We appreciate most of you are traveling from all over the world: Venezuela, US, Germany, Ireland, UK, Indonesia.. We advise you get your flights as early as possible to ensure you can get a good deal. From Ireland, there are a couple of airlines that fly directly to Malaga: Ryanair and AerLingus, you may want to check their websites directly or alternatively check the link provided below which directs you to Google flights. One tip Andrea and Matthew apply when traveling is to set up price tracking and get alerts when prices for flights change, so you don’t miss out on price drops!
Train
For those of you visiting from different cities in Spain, Renfe and its high speed trains are always a great alternative to reach Malaga. You can check out the fares and itineraries at the link provided below!
Travel Note
There are few ways depending on budget and preferences: 1. Train to Málaga from the Airport At the airport, the train station is not far from the exit out of arrivals. Keep walking straight ahead as you come out and once you reach the bus stop, cross the road and it is located in the building behind. The stop called Málaga Centro Alameda will drop you closer to the centre, on the Alameda Principal. 2. Taxis from Málaga Airport The fares are metered and generally cost between 20 and 25 euros. On a good day without traffic, this should take no more than 20 minutes. Alternatively, you can order an Uber, Cabify or Bolt, which Andrea and Matthew find it to be more cost effective. The pick-up spot for “VTCs” is clearly signposted and is in front of the train station. 3. Bus to Malaga The Línea Exprés Aeropuerto bus, operated by EMT, leaves from the bus stop directly outside Arrivals. The bus takes considerably longer (up to 45 minutes) to reach the centre. The main stops for this bus are on the 'Paseo del Parque' and at the bottom of 'Calle Larios' on Alameda Principal (City Centre).
Travel Note
We advise our guests to stay in or near Malaga City Centre. We have provided some options for Hotels below, however, there are other platforms such as Booking or Airbnb that provide plenty of variety to suit your needs.

Visit Malaga's Port for a walk, sightseeing and to enjoy some great food or drinks in the many restaurants and bars located alongside it. Andrea and Matthew did a Catamaran excursion departing from Muelle Uno that sailed to the Mediterrean Sea. It is even better when the sun sets and you can enjoy some cava and music on board.
Visit La Malagueta Beach for a dip in the sea and a picnic!
Espeto of Sardines is a very popular dish on the coast of Malaga, it consists of about 5 or 6 sardines cooked on the grill. In a lot of establishments they use a small boat filled with sand from the beach where the fire is made so that the fish is grilled. This dish is one of the most appreciated delicacies by locals and tourists.
Calle Larios is the most emblematic steet in Malaga. It is great for strolling, shopping, grabbing food/drinks and enjoying the liveliness and charm of its streets.
For specialty coffee lovers, this is a great spot which Andrea & Matthew frequent. Their cakes are to die for! YUM
We have been to bar La Tranca in almost all our visits to Malaga. Its an authentic and classic tapas bar in the city, where you can enjoy some delicious tapas and beers. They have a very transparent way of tracking your drink count.. This is a very busy spot so make sure to get there early!
The Alcazaba is the most important monument in Malaga. Its impressive architecture and beautiful details make it impossible not to be drawn to its grounds. You can easily walk from Malaga’s historic center to reach the Alcazaba and Castillo de Gibralfaro.
For those visiting Malaga for longer, we highly recommend spending a few days in Marbella, located 60 km away from Malaga (1 h car/taxi ride). Visiting Marbella is a unique experience. From shopping in its luxurious boutiques to dining in its distinguished restaurants, having fun in its beach clubs, and doing any kind of sport, the possibilities are endless.
