Well... it was New Years Eve 2023 when Kayla finally accepted Amy's "like." We chatted the night away and rang in the New Year, skipping over the mundane questions, getting right to the point. On January 3rd 2024, we had coffee at Brewed Awakenings, and our love began to brew as well. Little did we know that that day would begin this beautiful journey. Quickly into our dating life, we both shared how different things felt. Steady, slow paced, exciting, grounded, meaningful. We were fortunate to be able to spend our first few months together, well, together, a lot! We discovered the things we had in common and the many ways that we were different, we even found out that we worked together many years ago! After a little while, it became clear to Amy that it was time for Kayla to meet Ophelia-Jane, because after all, Amy was a 2 for 1 deal. Kayla got folded into the mix and our little flame grew. After introducing the cat to the dog, we decided that things were going pretty well. While there have been so many ups and several downs, on December 26th, Amy surprised Kayla with a big question, some really magical snow fell, and according to this website, she said yes! Here's to forever!
Bridesmaid
Colleen is Kayla's little sister, but has always made a big impact in Kayla's life! Kayla has always felt lucky to watch Colleen grow up, take care of her, and show up as a support for her. Kayla loves being her big sister. Their bond is life lasting, full of love, and lots of movie quotes!
Bridesmaid
Lindsay is Kayla's first best friend. Her "womb mate" so to speak, as their mothers' were both pregnant at the same time! They were born 4 months apart, and have been side by side ever since. When thinking about who to have stand next to her on this special day, Kayla knew that she couldn't do it without Lindsay! They have shared so many important memories and milestones together and Kayla can't wait to add this to the list.
Bridesmaid
Kayla met Trish in 7th grade, at Park View, at their lockers! Good thing they had names that began with the same letter. They were sat next to each other and have been friends ever since! From graduations, jobs, bringing Kai into the world, to a big wedding! Having Trish by Kayla's side is a no brain-er! Trish lives up to the role of Kayla's chosen family. Kayla feels grateful to have been chosen by Trish (and Kai), too!
Bridesmaid
Kayla & Jill met when they were very young because Jill was friends with one of Kayla's (many) cousins (small world, eh?) They reconnected in high school over their shared love for music and going to live shows. 20 years later, still going to shows together, and showing up for one another during life's milestones. Kayla knew she'd be by her side during this special show!
Bridesmaid
Kae & Amy met in grad school — in Ed’s class, to be specific — and their friendship began as if they had known each other for years. For a time, Kae (and her son Greyson) lived with Amy & Ophelia-Jane, becoming part of the fabric of daily life and truly embodying Jim (Amy’s dad’s) saying: “Friends are the family you choose.” Amy cherishes this friendship deeply, as Kae helps keep her grounded and reminds her what chosen family truly means.
Bridesmaid
Abby and Amy met when they were about 13 — or maybe even earlier, if you search back into their families’ histories together. They quickly bonded at LaSalle Academy in the chorus room and through theatre. Abby has stood beside Amy through every version of growing up and knows Amy better than almost anyone — and loves her anyway. Abby embodies what it means to be a pure friend: she shows up, she’s ready, and she does it with a smile. Abs & Ames 4ever.
Bridesmaid
Anna and Amy met at Lesley University while becoming the fabulous drama therapists they are today. Though their friendship started slowly, the shift to online therapy in 2020 (!!) made Anna a pillar of stability during Amy’s weekly peer supervision. These days, supervision looks less like talking about clients and more like sharing life — motherhood, dogs, and the rhythms of everyday life. Amy feels incredibly lucky to have a friend like Anna, and especially grateful for the “magical place” Anna’s home in Maine has become for Ophelia-Jane.
Bridesmaid
Amy might say she met Emily at Lesley University while studying drama therapy together, but that wouldn’t quite be true. They really met on a screen during peer supervision, becoming close well after graduation. Emily is one of the kindest, most grounded, logical, and empathetic people Amy knows (see a trend here?). Amy often says they “grew up together,” even though they met in adulthood, and feels incredibly lucky to have Emily by her side — especially since Amy almost didn’t let her join supervision (good thing Anna knew better).
Flower Girl
Ophelia-Jane is Amy's daughter. There are more than 1500 characters to say about how Amy (and Kayla) feel about Ophelia-Jane. She is the most incredible person Amy knows, she has taught Amy so much about how to live, and Amy will be forever grateful that Ophelia-Jane chose her to be her Momma. She is so excited about being in the wedding!
Flower Girl
Maia is Kayla's niece, who made Kayla an Auntie. Maia is creative, curious, and such an interesting person to have around. She and Ophelia-Jane have become very fast friends, too! She can often be found at Grammy & Poppa's house directing plays and doing kart wheels to entertain her guests!
Flower Girl
Rose is Amy's niece, she is one of a kind, with an incredibly contagious giggle. She is creative, fun, and an absolute joy to be around. Rose & Kayla have a really special relationship, that always ends up in lots of laughs and big hugs.
Ring Bearer
Kayla's nephew and her little love. Kayla and Emils have a very special bond, he is creative, funny, and maybe the quickest Lego builder we've ever met. We are honored to have him help deliver our rings down the aisle!
Ring Bearer
Greyson lived with Amy & Ophelia Jane when Kayla and Amy started dating. Greyson is a bright, interesting, and inquisitive human being. He has a remarkably gentle spirit that wins over the hearts of everyone he meets.
Jr. Ring Bearer
