How it Started

An Unexpected Journey

They were both full-time students in the same program at a small college. She was always in the library or the piano room. He was always on the courts or in the weight room. They were bees in the same garden, with different favourite flowers. They finally met at the start of Amy's graduating year. Amy had made a personal resolution to deliberately sit next to students she disagreed with. Brett had no such resolution, but he did pick a providential seat in class. Amy's first day: She has already sat down with her friends when she remembers her resolution. She packs up to walk across the room and sits down in front of the student she knows will challenge her opinions every morning for the rest of the semester. She does not notice who is already sitting in the spot to her left. Brett's first day: He is tired from a night shift but gets excited when he sees Amy leave her friend group and walk across the room to sit down right next to him. He has admired what he's heard about Amy for some time and looks forward to sitting next to her every morning for the rest of the semester. From that seating arrangement came an accidental 7-hour chat over midnight Thanksgiving nachos, an emergency oreo ice-cream delivery, and a fateful tofu stir-fry tutorial. Before mid-terms, they were in love.

The I Do's

1:00 pm - 11:30 pm

Earthwise Society
6031 Golf Road, Agassiz, BC V0M 1A3, Canada

Garden Attire: Colourful sundresses, floral prints, suits in lighter hues, and fun hats and fascinators. Platform heels are your friends as the entire day will be outside on grass.

After the ceremony, there will be lawn games, cocktails, snacks, and nature walks to enjoy on the property. Regroup at dinnertime for the reception, dinner, drinks, and dancing the night away (or at least until the 11pm noise curfew). Carpooling is strongly encouraged due to limited parking and fossil fuels.

Things To Do

If you're visiting the area, here are a few of our favourite local date spots to enjoy whether you're staying in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, or Agassiz.
Bridal Falls hike

Bridal Falls hike

Easy and conveniently named hike, approx. 30 min. only 10km south of Agassiz.

Re:vive Bistro & Boutique

Re:vive Bistro & Boutique

33757 South Fraser Way, Abbotsford, BC V2S 2C3, Canada

Creative charcuterie, gift shop, and wine-tasting spot in Historic Downtown Abbotsford

Banter Ice Cream

Banter Ice Cream

45530 Vedder Mountain Rd, Chilliwack, BC V2R 4C3, Canada

Mom won't visit me without making sure I take her for Banter Ice Cream - it's that good! Find them in Abbotsford near downtown, but their Chilliwack location is our favourite because it's next to the river and there's a great brewery next door :)

FAQs

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

We would love to celebrate with everyone, but due to the environmental sensitivity of our venue, we had to limit our guest list. Please RSVP only for the people we have listed on your invitation through the website. We will not have space for more at this gathering, but look forward to getting together for a dinner party with you and your significant other very soon!

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

Please arrive at least 30 minutes before the ceremony begins, as parking is limited and you may need to park on the street. Also, the ceremony will take place at the back of the venue in the forest, which is about a 10-minute walk across the grass if you're wearing heels.

Question

Can I camp overnight on the property?

Answer

Sadly, no camping is allowed at the venue. We must all be gone by midnight.

Question

Do I need to RSVP online?

Answer

We reallllllly appreciate it if you can RSVP online. It helps us keep track of everything while planning, and it also ensures that you will be in the loop in case we need to contact people about any updates like extreme weather changes, last-minute questions, and Thank You Cards! If you are having any trouble with the online RSVP, please let us know.
