Alvin & Vy first met on January 25, 2018. Our first date was at Snow Crave Tea House near Tully Road. We only ordered one crepe and ended up sharing it… for a really long time. Alvin did a really good job of not inhaling his food AND sharing the crepe in an attempt to not scare Vy off (it worked!). However, he did not do a good job with his arrival. Alvin was ten minutes late, and to this day, he's still late... Luckily, the chemistry was instant, we laughed, chatted for hours, and it just felt easy. Alvin was unemployed at the time, but still insisted on paying with his unemployment card. It was PRETTY CUTE and totally won Vy over. It wasn’t love at first sight, it was something that grew steadily over time. Alvin made the first move (we think?) and asked Vy to be his girlfriend on April 20, 2018. Fast forward seven years, and we’re still each other’s favorite person. Our first trip together was to Seattle, where Alvin discovered just how clumsy Vy really is (and how little spatial awareness she has). That’s when he made it his mission to always look out for her and he still does to this day... or makes fun of her for it. We’ve found joy in the little things we have in common — our love for cats, our obsession with music, and sleeping in on the weekends. We usually go on afternoon walks in the sun to get our Vitamin D, with our healthy green juices in hand, and have even started running together. One of our favorite rituals is giving each other massages on the chair while watching a YouTube video from the "Daily Dose of Internet". When we know it's time for one of us to relax, we always ask each other "Daily Dose?" We’re total opposites in many ways, but somehow we just work. Where one of us falls short, the other fills in. Vy cooks. Alvin cleans. Vy picks where to eat. Alvin agrees. Vy needs motivation to run. Alvin is the motivator. We balance, challenge, and support each other in a way that makes us better. Finally, in May 2024, Alvin proposed to Vy at the music festival EDC, under a sky bursting with fireworks and surrounded by our close friends. Now they await their next big chapter with everyone, friends and family, on Slurpee Day, aka 7/11, in 2025.
