From Chipotle Dates to Forever

Our story began in Buffalo, NY, where we met in college, Alicia on the soccer team and Logan on the hockey team. It didn’t take long before we caught each other’s eye. What started as study sessions in the library quickly turned into Chipotle dates (where Logan proudly treated Alicia with his BOGO gift cards). By 2018, we officially became “us,” and we’ve been together ever since. When COVID hit, we faced one of our biggest challenges, Alicia spent a year in Sweden while Logan was in the U.S. Even with an ocean and time zones between us, late-night calls and lots of patience kept us close. After the pandemic, we decided to take a leap and move to Tampa, buying our first townhome sight unseen to start our lives together. Weekends soon filled with home renovations and the addition of our very energetic dog, Koda, who made our little family complete. Fast forward to October 17, 2024, we said “I do” and began the next chapter of our story. We can’t wait to celebrate our marriage with all of our favorite people, our friends and family who have supported and cheered us on every step of the way.

Flight

Arlanda Airport

Arlanda Airport is Sweden's International Airport that will connect you with the U.S. and the rest of Europe. Direct Flights to Stockholm Arlanda Airport can be found from New York, Orlando, Chicago, and Boston (with various airlines). Getting to and from Arlanda is easy and will take around 30-45min. You can either get a taxi, uber or the Arlanda express (which is an express train that only stops at the central station.. however, can be more expensive if you are two or more). Google flights is what we use to find good flights and we always book directly with the airline (not with travel agents in case there are delays etc).

Must Try Food

Must Try Food

Toast skagen – is a piece of toast topped with shrimp and kalix löjrom roe. Can be found at most cafes and restaurants. Cardamom and Cinnamon Buns: Some might be better than others but you will find them everywhere in Stockholm. Try Under Kastanjen and Vete-Katten. Reindeer: if you want to test something different, reindeer is a pretty common dinner in Sweden as it stems from the natives. You can find this at Kryp In or Pelikan. Swedish meatballs served with potatoes gravy and lingonberries. You can find this dish anywhere but here are some options: Stockholm’s Gästanbud, Bakfickan, Kvarnen, or Tennstopet (to only mention a few). French hotdog: this is a favorite fast food for Alicia as it includes a hotdog and a baguette (therefore a French hotdog) don’t forget to ask for aioli! Can be found at most "corner" stores such as 7/11 and hotdog stands. Kebab roll or kebab pizza: There are pizzerias on every corner. Google kebab pizza near me and look for good reviews.

FAQs

Question

Do I need to apply for a Visa to go to Sweden?

Answer

No (at least for now). I will update this in case they start requiring tourist Visas. These Visas will be applied through an online portal and the cost will be $20 dollars. Latest update: The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) is scheduled to start operations in the last quarter of 2026. Link to Visa webpage: https://travel-europe.europa.eu/etias/about-etias/who-should-apply##

Question

Do I need to take out cash?

Answer

No you do not need cash in Sweden. Actually, cash is typically not accepted. Most people pay with a card that the Swedes typically keep on their Apple Pay.

Question

Am I going to be able to use my internet in Sweden?

Answer

I would check with your phone company regarding international internet usage. If you do not have an international plan and you use the internet the bill can turn out to be a lot of money (The same applies to talk and text). Of course WIFI can be used when you have access.

Question

Are you supposed to tip in Sweden?

Answer

Tipping is typically not asked for and is not needed for almost all activities. Sometimes Swedes tip their server a couple of dollars (around 5-10%) if you think they provided good service, but this is not a requirement so if you decide not to no one will get mad.
