Our Story

The first night Ali went to Atomic Ballroom, she saw David out on the floor and knew she had to come back and learn to dance like that. Once we finally met and danced together years later, there was no denying the connection. But timing wasn’t on our side, and after a short month of dating, Ali moved to Colorado. We didn’t expect to stay in touch, but it didn’t take long before we were taking turns travelling to see each other. Feelings became stronger and before a year had gone by, Ali found herself moving back to California, knowing whatever this thing was, it was special. When stormy weather came, we leaned on each other and learned how to come out stronger. We learned just how special our connection was, and how much our core values and dreams aligned with each other. Now, after about 8 wonderful years filled with dancing, exploration, challenges, growth, and love, we are excited for this next adventure!

Wedding Party

Addie

Maid of Honor

Ali and Addie met at cross country camp when they were 14, the summer before freshman year. They became fast friends and were attached at the hip in no time. Addie is creative, empathetic, and shows up for her friends. She has shown up for Ali and offered her a kind of friendship that Ali didn’t even know existed. They have the type of friendship that can last through any storm, long distance run, or broken down van in the middle of nowhere.

Yui

Bridesmaid

Yui and Ali met on the cross country team in high school. Though Ali thought they had nothing in common at first, Yui unexpectedly invited herself over for a sleepover one day during math tutorial, and Ali hesitantly agreed. That sleepover was the start of a beautiful friendship, with both of us supporting each other through many ups and downs over the years. It didn’t take long after becoming friends for Ali to realize that Yui has one of the biggest hearts, and always goes above and beyond for her people. During that sleepover, we watched the movie “bridesmaids” together, not knowing at the time that we would one day be each other’s bridesmaids!

Brooke

Bridesmaid

Ali met Brooke through David’s new climbing friend group. Though we didn’t get to know each other much the first few meetings, a group trip to Hawaii and trauma-bonding over the sketchiest hike ever changed that! After that trip, we started hanging out and bonding more over roller skating and festivals. From the start of our friendship, Ali could tell what a genuine and open-minded person Brooke was, and the way she roots for other people and lifts them up really makes her shine.

Laura

Bridesmaid

Laura is one of Ali’s longest friends. Our friendship started in first grade when we would pretend we were spies together during recess. Laura moved to a new school the following year, and we didn’t see each other again until we were unexpectedly reunited in middle school. We made many silly videos together and had many sleepovers, and this time, when Laura moved away again in high school, we kept in touch. Our chaotic energy has always drawn us together. We had a joke that we were “every six month” friends, and would only catch up or hang out twice a year. That trend has continued into adulthood, sometimes going even longer without catching up. But, whenever we do see each other, it’s like no time has gone by.

Emily

Officiant

Emily and Ali met at Atomic Ballroom, where we both loved to dance. Both of us were intimidated by each other for a while but quickly became friends once we actually talked to each other! We bonded over how much we had in common aside from our obsession with dancing!
