Marissa made a move to Atlanta, Georgia in November 2019, starting fresh with just a handful of acquaintances from her studies at SCAD Savannah. In February 2020, she found herself invited to a housewarming party for a college friend, despite knowing very few people there. On the same day, Alex, who had grown up in Alpharetta, Georgia and maintained a close-knit group of friends since elementary school, was also invited to the same party by one of his long-time friends. Both Marissa and Alex decided to attend the party on a whim, and it was there that their paths crossed. At the party, Alex, noticing Marissa was surrounded by unfamiliar faces, made an effort to engage with her throughout the entire evening. After leaving the party, Marissa took the initiative and asked a mutual friend to share her contact information with Alex. The following weekend, Alex asked Marissa out for brunch and later that month they made their relationship official. Fast forward to December 2023, Marissa was working with a photographer in NYC for 3 weeks when Alex surprised her by flying in for the weekend of December 9th and proposing in Central Park! Today, Alex and Marissa have settled in Newnan, Georgia. Alex commutes to West Point, GA for his role in cyber security with Kia Motors, while Marissa works as a freelance brand photographer in Atlanta. Their lives are now shared with their adorable border collie mix puppy, Benny, adding joy to their journey together.
