The week of my birthday, John mentioned a weekend getaway but kept the details a secret. On Friday, we dropped our dog off and arrived at the JW Marriott downtown. The view from our 21st-floor room was stunning, despite my fear of heights. We rode electric scooters around the city and had a great time. The next morning, after breakfast on the 30th floor, I kept asking about our plans for the night, but John wouldn’t reveal them. We spent the day riding scooters and hanging out until it was time for dinner. We walked to another hotel and took the elevator to the top floor, where I discovered we were dining at the Eagle's Nest. During dinner, John seemed to have something on his mind. Before our food arrived, the waitress asked to take our picture. Suddenly, John was on one knee with a ring, asking me to marry him. I was in shock and said yes! Everyone in the room clapped, and it turned out the waitress was in on the plan, recording the proposal. After dinner, we took a carriage ride around the square and shared the news with family and friends. We ended the night with dessert at the hotel restaurant and enjoyed the rest of our weekend. It was the best weekend ever, and I can’t wait to be John’s wife.
