National Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche at Mission Nombre De Dios

Catholic or not, this shrine is absolutely worth visiting! We give honor to the Virgin Mary to give greater glory to God. She is a perfect example of what it means to follow Christ as a true disciple. Just as we show respect to our husband’s or wife’s mother simply because she is the mother of the one we love, how much more should we honor the Mother of God—who, for the sake of our salvation, witnessed her Son suffer and be crucified for our sins. This shrine is dedicated to Mary as a place of honor, not worship, which belongs to God alone. But there’s even more to discover here. The grounds are rich with history, as hundreds of Catholic Christians were killed on this very land while defending the truth of the faith. On top of that, the shrine offers a beautiful scenic view on the water and is surrounded by great restaurants, making it a peaceful and memorable place to visit.
