Some love stories don’t begin with fireworks, they begin with a moment. Ours started at the gym: I was leaving, Alex was walking in. We didn’t plan it, didn’t know each other yet, but fate clearly did. He smiled as he said hello, this wide, excited smile that caught me completely off guard. I remember thinking, That was so cute. Not even my closest friends would have done that. That’s when my heart began to open. And then, there was the night he said I love you. We were at the beach house. He mumbled it at first, just under his breath, and I almost convinced myself I hadn’t heard it. But then he said it again…clearer, braver…and I froze. Not because it was too soon, or too bold. But because it was perfect. I had never known what it felt like to be loved like that. I replayed those words for days, feeling goosebumps every time I remembered the way he looked at me when he said them. Alex is my first love. He is the one who showed me what love truly feels like, safe, kind, and real. I knew he was my person in the way he cares, the softness in his voice, the small things he does without being asked.
