A little story of UsA little story of Us

From Sacramento to San Francisco to the World

We met when John was living in Sacramento and Alex in San Francisco. Following our very first date on January 18th, 2020, we met up in secret every weekend for months, flying under the radar with the help of social distancing due to a global pandemic. Little by little our circle expanded, and bigger adventures began. A puppy named Shiryu came into the picture on August 25th, 2020, bringing tons of additional love and long walks under the stars. Six job changes, two MBA degrees, fifteen countries visited, and three different apartments later, the time came to tie the knot. We decided to first get married in San Francisco on January 23rd, 2025 in a small civil ceremony, and then invite our friends and families to a larger celebration in the town where we bought our first home: beautiful San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

We are incredibly grateful to have you as part of our community, that is truly the greatest gift to us! Your love and support mean everything. However, if you would like to celebrate with a little something extra, we’ve put together a registry to help us furnish our home in San Miguel de Allende (see link below). We would also be grateful for any financial contribution, which will help us create our new life together; we’ll have a basket available at the reception for this. That said, please know that your presence in our lives and at our wedding is more than enough! With love and gratitude, Alejandro and John

Officiant

Karina and Patrick were the first friends we shared our relationship with, and they have been unwaveringly supportive ever since. They currently reside in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, and we remain closely connected, especially during significant moments in our lives. If you have any questions other than the ones listed here, please reach out to Alejandro or John directly.
Question

What are the closest airports? What are the closest airports?

Answer

The closest is Queretaro (QRO) and it is approx. 1 hr 20 min from San Miguel de Allende. The next one is Leon-Bajio (BJX) at approx. 1 hr 40 min. Mexico City (MEX) is approx. 3 hr 30 min.

Question

What transportation should we use from the airport to San Miguel de Allende? What transportation should we use from the airport to San Miguel de Allende?

Answer

The company we recommend for reliability, safety, and comfort is BajioGo https://www.bajiogo.com/en Other ways to get there is renting a car but we do not recommend it due to difficulty of parking and heavy traffic.

Question

Where should I stay?Where should I stay?

Answer

Recommended Hotels San Miguel de Allende offers a variety of accommodations for every style and budget. Anywhere within a 10–15 minute walk from the main church (Parroquia San Miguel Arcángel) is a great location, but please note that the closer you are, the noisier it might get. John and I particularly love staying near Parque Benito Juárez; it’s calm, beautiful, and only about a 10-minute walk to both the church and wedding venue. Luxury: Rosewood San Miguel de Allende – Stunning views, elegant rooms, full-service amenities including spa, pool, and fine dining. Belmond Casa de Sierra Nevada – Historic boutique with restored colonial architecture and exceptional service. Live Aqua Boutique Resort – Modern design, rooftop terraces, and upscale dining. Hacienda de Guadalupe – Elegant rooms, lush gardens, and intimate atmosphere. Mid-range: Hacienda El Santuario – Charming rooms with terraces near the city center. Casa Blanca Boutique & Organic – Cozy boutique experience with great breakfast. Hotel Matilda – Art-focused design, chic interiors, central location, and excellent restaurant. Casa Angelitos – Friendly, intimate boutique with easy access to shops and restaurants. Numu Hotel – Stylish boutique hotel with rooftop views and central location. Golpe de Vista – Spacious suites, contemporary design, and a vibrant atmosphere. Budget: Hostal La Posadita – Comfortable, central, and friendly for budget travelers. Hotel Nena – Simple, clean accommodations in a safe area. Hotel Casa San Miguel – Basic but well-kept rooms, central location. Posada del Virrey – Colorful guesthouse with courtyard, walking distance to attractions. Most of these hotels are highly rated, centrally located, and perfect for exploring San Miguel de Allende’s historic center, parks, markets, and vibrant culture.

Question

Should I rent a car?Should I rent a car?

Answer

We highly suggest not to rent a car nor drive in San Miguel. The streets and traffic can be challenging in this historical town. Ubers and taxis are reliable, cheap, and available.

Question

Should I bring my kids to the wedding?Should I bring my kids to the wedding?

Answer

Even though we would love to celebrate with everyone, including your little ones, we want to give a heads-up that the venue and moving around town could be challenging for kids. The space is on an upstairs terrace, accessible by a narrow staircase through a pottery store, and the terrace has limited space with only a small fence between it and the ground floor. We completely understand if this makes it tricky, and hope you still feel part of the celebrations!

Question

What's the weather forecast and what should I wear? What's the weather forecast and what should I wear?

Answer

Our wedding will be outdoors from 1 PM to 9 PM in beautiful San Miguel de Allende! November usually brings sunny and dry weather, with daytime temperatures around 75°F (24°C) and cooler evenings near 52°F (11°C). We recommend light, breathable layers for the afternoon and a shawl, wrap, or light jacket for when the sun goes down. Comfortable shoes are a good idea, especially for walking on terraces, cobblestones, and garden areas. Dress festive, elegant, and whatever makes you feel great, just be ready to enjoy the sun and the stars!

Question

What will be served at the wedding? What will be served at the wedding?

Answer

We’ll have a delicious selection of drinks to toast the day: Wines: White and red Spirits: Mezcal and whisky Beer: Tecate (or Negra Modelo) and Corona Special cocktails: Tamarind and lime mezcalitas, micheladas, agua fresca de jamaica con jengibre, and agua de limón con albahaca y pepino Coffee will also be available Our menu has been thoughtfully curated by chef Marco to include something for everyone. Food will be served "family stye" (al centro): Starters / Entradas: Shrimp ceviche with mango Guacamole with totopos (mild, with little onion and cilantro) Portobello sliders with tomato and arugula (for vegetarians) Main courses / Platos fuertes: Fish “a la talla” in banana leaf Beef barbacoa with consomé Baby pork BBQ ribs Cheese-stuffed chile relleno with tomato sauce in puff pastry (for vegetarians) Fresh tortillas and salsas Sides / Guarniciones: Red rice Nopales Mac and cheese Frijoles puercos Desserts / Postres: Tres leches cake Oatmeal cookies Cheesecake Pear tart We’re excited to share this feast with you and hope you enjoy every bite and sip as we celebrate together!

Question

Is there a registry?Is there a registry?

Answer

We are incredibly grateful to have you as part of our community, that is truly the greatest gift to us! Your love and support mean everything. However, if you would like to celebrate with a little something extra, we’ve put together a registry to help us furnish our home in San Miguel de Allende (see registry section).
