In December 2021, Shally and Alain, both passionate scotch enthusiasts, decided to have their first date at On The Rocks, a cozy whiskey bar in Hell's Kitchen, NYC. Surrounded by the warm ambiance of oak barrels and dim lighting, they bonded over their love for scotch, each ordering a different, high-end whiskey. The conversation flowed easily as they shared stories of their worst first dates. After drinks, they wandered to a nearby French bistro, where the intimate atmosphere set the stage for deeper conversation. As they shared childhood memories and travel stories, Alain suddenly realized, "Wait, I think we’ve crossed paths before." Shally, intrigued, remembered they both attended the same event in the Lower East Side months earlier. They laughed at how their paths had unknowingly crossed in the city before finally meeting. As the night came to an end, they both felt it—this was the start of something special. Their "last, first date" had already marked the beginning of a journey they would cherish forever. --- En décembre 2021, Shally et Alain, deux inconditionnels de scotch, décidèrent de se rencontrer pour la première fois à On The Rocks, un bar à whisky douillet situé à Hells Kitchen, un quartier de New York. C’est dans cette douce lumière tamisée se reflétant sur de chaleureux barils de chêne qu’ils se sont découvert un amour commun pour le scotch, chacun commandant un whisky haut de gamme différente. La conversation alla bon train alors qu’ils échangèrent leurs pires expériences de premières rencontres. Ayant fini leurs boissons, ils se retrouvèrent à un bistro français non loin de là, dont l’ambiance intime invitait à une discussion plus profonde. Alors qu’ils se contaient chacun leurs souvenirs d’enfance et leurs aventures de voyage, Alain s’exclama : « Attends un peu, ne nous sommes-nous pas déjà rencontrés ? ». Shally, intriguée, se rappela qu’ils étaient en effet tous deux au même évènement dans le Lower East Side, quelques mois auparavant. Ils pouffèrent de rire à l’idée que leurs chemins s’étaient croisés à leur insu, avant même leur première rencontre officielle. La nuit arrivant à sa fin, ils se sont tout deux rendus compte que ceci n’était que le début de quelque chose d’exceptionnel. En effet, ce « dernier premier rendez-vous » aura été le début d’un périple qu’ils chériraient à jamais.

It was the final night of their unforgettable journey through Asia. Shally and Alain had spent the past month immersing themselves in the vibrant cultures, breathtaking landscapes, and unforgettable experiences that only such an adventurous backpacking trip could offer. From Tokyo, to Taipei, and from there on to, Thailand and then to their Motherlands of Laos and Korea, they had seen it all together. But the excitement of their travels was about to reach an entirely new peak. Their journey had taken them through the hustle and bustle of some of the world's most exciting cities, but now, they found themselves in Seoul, South Korea, at the luxurious Ambassador Seoul, A Pullman Hotel. It was the evening of December 15, 2023 where they had just had an incredible dinner at, "Walking On The Cloud," in Korea's famous 63 Building. The room was elegantly designed, its windows offering a breathtaking view of the city skyline lit up by winter lights. Ironically, they were staying in room 1512 at the hotel. Though she knew it coming, it was very unexpected when he got down on one knee, and proposed. In which, she responded, "Wait, are you serious right now?" and eventually she said, "Yes" They spent the rest of the evening, calling their friends and family, talking about the future, the love that had only grown stronger on their journey, and all the adventures still ahead. Though their backpacking trip through Asia had come to an end, their journey together, one filled with love, laughter, and countless memories, was just beginning. --- C’était la dernière nuit de leur voyage inoubliable à travers l’Asie. Shally et Alain avaient passé tout le mois s’imprégnant du patrimoine culturel vivant, de panoramas époustouflants et d’expériences inoubliables que seul un voyage aventureux puisse offrir. De Tokyo à Taipei, en passant par la Thaïlande et ensuite visitant le pays de leur parent respectif, le Laos et la Corée, ils ont tout vu ensemble. Mais l’effervescence de leurs voyages allait bientôt atteindre son paroxysme. Leurs péripéties les avaient menés dans le tohu-bohu des villes les plus dynamiques, mais ils se trouvaient à présent à Séoul, en Corée du Sud, au sein du luxueux hôtel Pullman Ambassador Seoul. C’était la nuit du 15 décembre 2023, et ils venaient de savourer un magnifique dîner au restaurant « Walking On The Cloud », situé dans le célèbre « Building 63 ». La chambre d’hôtel était d’un design élégant, ses baies vitrées offrant une vue imprenable de la ville éclairée des lumières d’hiver. Curieusement, ils se trouvaient à la chambre 1512 de l’hôtel. Malgré qu’elle s’en doutait un peu, Shally fut quand même surprise de voir Alain s’agenouiller et ainsi la demander en mariage. Au début, elle ne put que s’exclamer : « Attend, t’es sérieux?! »; elle finit cependant par dire « oui ». Ils passèrent le reste de leur soirée à contacter leurs amis et leurs familles, et à forger des plans futurs, leur amour s’étant approfondi à travers leur voyage et promettant plein d’aventures à venir. Même si leur voyage à travers l’Asie s’achevait déjà, leur aventure ensemble ne faisait que commencer ; une aventure faite d’amour, d’allégresse et d’innombrables souvenirs.
