How We MetHow We Met

Our story starts in the spring of 2011 at Mississippi State University in an American Government class. The professor was calling roll when we both did a double-take. Same last name? We were sitting near each other, locked eyes, and exchanged a smile. Nothing happened right away, but about a year later, he slid into my Facebook messages. Smooth move. We briefly got to know each other before he left for basic training. In that short window of time, we found out we had even more in common, including April birthdays just two days apart.  Fast forward years later, seasons of growth, and a whole lot of love later. Here we are, sharing more than just a last name.

The ProposalThe Proposal

Our first trip to Chicago was in August 2023 for an engagement party. I completely fell in love with the city. It had this magical, “I could totally live here” kind of vibe. Since we already knew we’d be back the next year for a wedding, Justin decided Chicago would be the perfect place to pop the question. And he wasn’t wrong! On July 26, 2024, right in front of The Bean, Justin got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
