This love story started when I was in Vegas with my girlfriends celebrating one of our friend’s birthday. I took a selfie and posted on my Instagram story, and Gozie replied that he loved my hair. The next day he sent me a message, saying that if I ever become single, he’d like to be at the top of my wait list. When I responded that “I am single”, he was so excited I could tell from the message but I could also tell he was trying to play it cool and not show too much excitement. We continued our conversations through Instagram while I was on the trip until he sent me his number asking me to reach out whenever. I wasn’t looking for anything serious at the time since I just got out of a relationship. A couple weeks went by after my vacation and I was at a graduation party when he messaged me again saying “you never called me”. A day or two after that, I was driving home from my bestfriends house and decided to just call him. As soon as he answered we started laughing and his nerves subsided. He insisted that we FaceTime that same night, but I didn’t want to since video chat is something I usually reserve for my family and friends. After a couple of hours on the phone, I gave in. As soon as we saw each other, it was all smiles! It was like we had known each other our whole lives. Each day on the phone with him was magical! He would always say our souls met in another universe before now. After a few conversations over the phone, we set up a date, so he flew down to houston and I met him for the first time. I could tell he was nervous because when he hugged me for the first time, he didn’t want to let go and I laughed so hard until he did. We went to the movies on our first date which was great since we both enjoy watching movies. Our relationship blossomed into something beautiful and I am so thankful to God for the man he put in my life: a God-fearing man who is selfless, caring, compassionate, loving and puts my needs before his. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us and I cannot wait to do life with him.

Since I was a kid, I'd always wanted an amazing love story. I grew up listening to songs about romance and unconditional love, and I couldn't wait to grow up and experience it for myself.  After I graduated college, I'd dated for a while but hadn't found someone worth spending the rest of my life with. In early 2021, I told myself I wouldn't start "seriously dating" until 2022. I wanted to just date casually for a while and learn more about myself and the dating experience before searching for my wife. However, God had other plans for me that year. In the summer of 2021, I came across a picture of Aishat on a social media page where Nigerians in the medical field are posted, and I thought she was the most beautiful woman I’d ever laid my eyes on. So I requested she befriend me online, and to my amazement, she accepted my request. We chatted back and forth about superficial topics for a few weeks and we seemed to hit it off. I then gave her my number so we could talk on the phone, and our first video chat lasted 4 hours. From that night on, I knew she was someone special, and I knew she was someone I didn't want to let go of. Early July, I flew out to Houston to meet her face to face, and to my surprise, she looked better in person than she did on my phone. A few hours into our first date, the nerves subsided and we were both able to just be our goofy selves, and that night was the beginning of our love story. A few weeks later, I asked her to be my girlfriend, and two years later, July of 2023, I asked her to be my fiancee. July of 2024, by God's grace, she'll be my wife, Mrs. Aishat Uzendu. When I look back at my life, I'm grateful for all that God has provided for me: a loving family, friends who encourage me to be the best version of myself, a job where I love to come to work and hate to leave, a house I'm glad to call my home, and great health. I've prayed for my wife since I was 13 years old, and I'm blessed to know that my prayers lead me to Aishat, and I can't wait to see what God has in store for us.
