In 2022, Robert and Amanda first met at Moe's BBQ in downtown Mobile during a Mobile Bar Association Young Lawyers golf tournament planning meeting. Robert was chair of the golf committee that year and Amanda was Treasurer of the MBA YL Executive Board. Robert was the Treasurer nominee at the end of 2022 and Amanda called Robert, asking (telling) him he had to work with her for the next two years. Robert said yes, as if he had a choice. They'd love to tell you it was love at first sight, but it wasn't until the next spring that they really got to know each other. In 2023, Amanda was Vice President of the MBA Young Lawyers Executive Committee and Robert was the Treasurer. The February MBA Mardi Gras party RSVPs filled up and Young Lawyers decided to throw an overflow party of their own. Amanda and Robert organized a party at, of course, Moe's downtown. No one came. Amanda and Robert spent the next few hours alone talking and those few hours would change their lives. Robert would be the first to tell you that he spent the next several months trying, and failing, to ask Amanda out on a date. Amanda finally said yes to their first date in January 2024. Robert knew Amanda was in trial prep and invited her to dinner "as a break." They went to Hummingbird Way and still laugh about ordering the Biscuit Service, which was truly enough bread to feed an army. The rest is history. "When you know, you know," always seemed like a joke until now. Robert and Amanda seamlessly fit into each other's lives, and nothing is a truer testament to the gift this relationship has been. Robert will tell you his parents likely love Amanda more than him. Amanda will tell you that she's never been more herself with anyone else in her entire life than she is with Robert. They are excited to spend the rest of their lives together. Amanda loves to meal prep, and Robert has suddenly decided he is an aspiring chef. They say don't ever pray for patience, which Amanda has learned extensively through holding her tongue and not correcting Robert's every move in her kitchen when he tries to help. Robert tries to get Amanda to watch his favorite TV shows and movies, and Amanda continues to try to do literally anything other than watch TV with her spare time. Robert will tell you he loves trying to convince Amanda to watch those movies and shows because he knows she would like them despite her best efforts-- and he loves her even more for that. (She won't, but he can think that).
