Travel Note
USD🇺🇸 → 🇵🇭Php From our travels, we've learned that your local bank back home often gives the best exchange rate—who knew, right? To avoid the scramble, reach out to them 2-3 weeks before your trip and request some Philippine Pesos. Since banks don’t usually keep foreign currencies in stock, a little advance notice will make sure you’re all set. 🇵🇭Php → USD🇺🇸 Exchange your extra Php Pesos before you get to the airport—unless, of course, you're like Jesper and prefer using it to pick up last minute airport souvenirs.

Puerto Princesa International Airport (PPS) is the main gateway to Palawan. International flights typically land in major Philippine cities first like Manila, Cebu, or Davao before a quick transfer to PPS. To make things easier, we highly recommend booking under one itinerary. You can book your starting flight from your home airport to this beautiful destination, PPS. For your convenience, here's a list of airlines we love to fly with: - Singapore, main stopover at SIN - Cathay Pacific, main stopover at HKG - ANA, main stopover at NRT or HND

Travel Note
Here’s a sneak peek of our engagement trip! Adam surprised me with a getaway, and I had no clue where we were headed until we boarded. It was an unforgettable adventure full of surprises and love!

At nearly 5 miles in length, Sabang's famous underground river is one of the longest navigable river-traversed caves in the world. Trips aboard unmotorized paddle boats travel about 1 mile upstream into the cave (45 minutes round trip). There are two ways to get there. Read the jungle hike and outrigger sections below. Remember to bring P1000 for park entrance and water shoes. Click the "view" button to read more about park.
Enjoy 800m of adrenaline as you fly over the pristine blue waters of Sabang Beach! Drop by on your way back from exploring the underground river! No need to worry about your safety as all the necessary gear you'll need will be provided!
For thrill-seekers and nature lovers alike! The Jungle Trail is now open! It offers a one-of-a-kind route to the underground river, taking you through the lush green century old trees, serene streams, and breathtaking natural beauty 🌴🪵 Located just a few minutes from the resort, the park offers two trails to the Underground River. A permit must be secured before entering the Park (contact hotel staff who will gladly do it for you). The shorter of the two is the Monkey Trail (approx. 1.8 mile); the other is the Jungle Trail (approx. 2.5 mile). Both will take you through dense forest and past beach coves on a series of wooden steps and bridges. You will get to see the forest undergrowth and a wide variety of exotic flora and fauna, like macaques (monkeys) and large Monitor Lizards.
Banka rides can be booked at Sabang’s tourism centre. These leave every hour or more frequently depending on number of passengers) and will take you directly to the entrance of the UndergroundRiver (about P200 per person). It’s about a 20 mins boat ride from Sabang pier. Once there, you will board smaller paddle boats to visit the cave itself. The complete trip lasts about one and a half to two hours.
Because of its length and interesting layout, the beach itself offers plenty to do aside from swimming. You can follow the sand all the way to the other side of the bay to the Park’s entrance. A river system provides a cool, fresh water oasis in which to swim and where you can help extend the pristine mangrove forest by planting your very own trees.
From nest to ocean, the Pawikan or Olive Ridley turtles hatch and begin their journey to the sea right in front of the resort -kind of like the journey Adam and I are about to take together, but with fewer shell changes I hope. If we're lucky, we might get to witness this amazing sight, as it typically occurs between February and May. Pawikans are just one of many incredible wildlife species that call this area home.🐢🌊
Mangrove Tour – Located in the Park’s buffer zone, you can secure a pass and be guided deep into the mangrove forest on a paddleboat. It’s a great and rare opportunity to see a pristine mangrove with all the species it harbours. The tour lasts about 30-45 mins and the guides are well informed and always ready to answer your questions.
Have some time to spare on your trip after the wedding?! Be sure to check out El Nido. It’s located at the most northern tip of the island of Palawan and is accessible by a 6 hour drive or by plane from Puerto Princessa airport. Don’t take our word for it, check out the YouTube video linked!

6-Month Rule: Many countries require your passport to be valid for a minimum of six months after your entry or departure date. This is a common requirement to facilitate smooth immigration procedures The U.S. does not have a specific requirement for returning U.S. citizens to have a passport valid for six months beyond their stay. However, it's still advisable to have a passport with a good amount of time remaining to avoid potential issues.
Be sure to check in with your primary care physician for official recommendations as everyone's medical condition and history is unique. A great resource to double check recommended vaccines when traveling to the Philippines can be found on the CDC website located here: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/traveler/none/philippines (Note: When Adam visited the Philippines for his first time, the only thing his primary care provider recommended was an updated flu shot, as well as a typhoid fever vaccine)
The hotel uses standard U.S. plugs, but keep in mind that many American electronics are designed for 110–120V, while the Philippines runs on 220–240V. You may need a step-down converter—especially for my Dyson girlies. Don’t risk frying your precious tools!
In Palawan, cash is king. There may be plenty of places that take card, however if cash is needed, the ATM fees will be HIGH. We recommend you convert the money you intend to bring with your local bank. Pro Tip: Start the money conversion process early as it can take the bank up to 3 weeks to order the PHP currency so you can exchange. Most banks don’t hold foreign currency in house and an ordering process has to be placed.
