The Rock We Still Can’t Find

From Korean fried chicken in Central Park to “I do” on the same day we met — proof that timing (and instinct) really do matter.

We met during the fall of 2020 — at the height of COVID, when every restaurant in New York was closed and meeting someone new felt like a small miracle. Somehow, amidst all that uncertainty, we found each other on Hinge. Our first date was in K-Town. Ivy walked from the east side, Adam from the west, and we met somewhere in the middle on 32nd Street — surrounded by the midday bustle, the mix of sizzling aromas drifting from open kitchen doors, and that uniquely chaotic New York energy that somehow feels alive and welcoming all at once. We grabbed takeout from BB.Q Chicken, and Ivy brought a couple of Sierra Nevada IPAs (her first ever — chosen for the cute little truck on the label). We carried our picnic up to Central Park and found a rock that became “our spot.” We ate chicken, drank beer, and talked for hours — a simple afternoon that somehow felt timeless. To this day, we’ve never been able to find that rock again. We’ve tried! Somehow, it feels fitting that it stays hidden — like a secret marker of where everything began. Ours has always been a “slow brew” kind of love. No rush, no pressure — just curiosity, laughter, and trust unfolding naturally. From that first walk through Manhattan to five years of growing, learning, and building a life together, we’ve found our rhythm in the small things that make it all feel like home. Now, six years later, we’ll be celebrating our wedding on October 4th, 2026 — the same day we met — closing the circle where it all began.

Travel & Hotel Accommodations

The Wedding Website of Adam Bilchik and Ivy Chiu
We’ve shared a short list of hotels we recommend in Manhattan and Long Island City, Queens. Rather than holding a formal room block, we wanted guests to have the flexibility to choose the option that best fits their plans, budget, and length of stay. Roosevelt Island is easily accessible by subway, tram, and rideshare from both areas. We recommend booking accommodations early, as October is a popular time to visit New York City.
