Our Story

We met in 2017 teaching English in the mountain town of Huehuetenango, Guatemala. We became fast friends and spent all of our time together. We connected over music, TV shows, and late night talks. Liz had a crush on Abbie for a while, and after spending a full day exploring the city of Antigua together, we knew we were more than just friends. So we decided to start dating! For the first year of our relationship, we were still teaching in Huehue, but then at the end of 2018 we moved back to the states. Now we live together in Walnut Creek, CA where we are both teachers!

The Proposal

4-27-24

Liz planned the perfect surprise proposal. She created a fake event for school (she even created a fake Canva flyer for it!) that would take place in Tilden Park, an area that overlooks the San Francisco Bay that we frequented during our first few years in CA. So Abbie got all dressed up for this "event" that day, meanwhile Liz had Abbie's sister and cousin hard at work setting up a picnic for us. She drove us to the spot, pulled over, and popped the question! We spent some time up there enjoying the picnic before moving on to the next surprise, a party with all our closest local friends! It was a day spent in perfect bliss, and an amazing start to our lives together.

Our Big Day

We are so happy to be celebrating our big day with our loved ones! Our ceremony will be held at the amphitheater at Old Mill Park in Mill Valley, CA. There is very limited street parking at the park, so we are recommending guests park at our reception site, Mill Valley Community Center, and take a shuttle or ride share to the park (about 1.5 miles). Shuttle rides will end about 15 minutes before the ceremony start time, so please plan accordingly. Children are welcome at our wedding!

If you're feeling adventurous and energetic, you can rent a bike in Sausalito and ride it across the Golden Gate Bridge! FAQs

Question

Are kids allowed at the wedding?

Answer

Yes! Kids are welcome at the ceremony and reception! There will be kid-friendly food options for dinner. Take note that at a certain point in the evening, we will be playing explicit music on the dance floor. Make the best choice for your family with that in mind.

Question

Where should I park?

Answer

Please park at the reception site - The Mill Valley Community Center 180 Camino Alto, Mill Valley, CA 94941 Please allow for enough time to make it to the ceremony at Old Mill Park. We will provide free shuttles to the ceremony site until 3:15pm

Question

What if I arrive late?

Answer

Option 1: If you miss the shuttle cut-off time, you may navigate to Old Mill Park. To get there on the GPS, you should put in the address for the Mill Valley Library: 375 Throckmorton Ave, Mill Valley, CA 94941 The ceremony will be held just behind the library. There is only street parking available here, and it is NOT plentiful. Please be warned that it will be difficult to find parking if you choose to come straight to the ceremony site to park. Option 2: Park at the Mill Valley Community Center and try to call an Uber/Lyft from the community center to Old Mill Park. If you do so, please put the Mill Valley Library as the destination in your ride share app. This option does eliminate the need to park at the ceremony site, but we are not sure how plentiful the drivers are in the Mill Valley area. Please be warned you may be waiting a bit for your Uber/Lyft to arrive to pick you up.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

We are expecting dressy casual attire, but please come however you feel most comfortable and confident.

Question

What is the weather like in Mill Valley?

Answer

In Mill Valley during early July, you can expect mild and pleasant weather with average high temperatures in the lower 80s Fahrenheit and overnight lows in the lower 60s Fahrenheit. Expect long hours of sunshine and minimal to no rainfall. Please do pack some warm layers as it can get chilly at night and in the morning. SF is known for its cold summers!
