Serena: I was studying with our mutual friend, Brandon, in the common area one night. He did not want me to walk home because it was too late, but he did not have a car. So, guess who drove me home? That was the first time I met Jerome. Jerome: She knocked on my door one night asking for a ride to her dorm. Serena: Next semester another mutual friend, Kas, invited me to a hackathon at the Hack Berry Lab. To my surprise, that was one of Jerome’s on-campus jobs and he was working that night. Jerome: Her and her friends came in and I asked them what they wanted to make. I taught Serena how to make a vinyl sticker shaped like a gecko, however she claimed it was a salamander. After that night I started seeing her everywhere. During our junior year, we had the most boring English class together. However, I looked forward to talking with Serena after class and getting to know her. She kept coming to the lab to hang out with me. There was something about her that struck me unlike any other girl that I had come across before. That was when I set out to make a lasting impression on her. I called our mutual friend, Brandon, to get some information on her. For her birthday, I made her a recording sign and she loved it. Serena: I enjoyed talking with Jerome after class and at the lab, but at the time I considered him just a really sweet friend. By the time senior year came around we were talking more and more. Jerome: Knowing it was senior year, I knew I had to shoot my shot or not shoot at all. I sent her three roses anonymously one morning. Later that evening, I asked her out. Serena: When I got the roses in the mail, Jerome did run across my mind as being the possible sender. However, I denied it until he asked if I got his gift. When he asked me out I was shocked, scared, and freaking out because up until that point Jerome and I were just friends. But when we went out on our first date I finally realized my feelings for Jerome. Jerome: And that was all she wrote.
